Have you guys ever...

I had 2 bouts of 6 months sickeness in my last job. Off with Anxiety and depression after losing my mum and dad within a year of each other. Had a terrible time. Still on meds too!!

What's the problem Moogleys? Sounds fairly serious :(

I have quite bad Ulcerative Colitis. I,m out the RAF in November and i think the medics are trying to drag things out until then rather than medically discharge me which would cost them a few quid. I,m about to take legal action against the RAF medical services so i will more than likely be out in a few weeks....

Good luck with all the employment hassle, I hope it doesn't impeed your recovery, as your health is always the most important factor and stress never helps :)

Yep, everything from the squits to kids being ill, to being hungover to the point of stinking of alcohol from every pore in your body :D

Don't talk to me about the hangovers. The flexibility is great so long as you get the work done no one cares.

Yep, it gives you a fair bit longer to get the work done and you can sit in a better temp room (cold to stop the sweats) and close the curtains to keep the light out :p

When I've wanted to work from home and I have no meetings then yes, often called the team to say I was 'down' with something.

Perhaps once every other month? The times I actually didn't work from home and just called in sick for no other reason than wanting/needing a day off, perhaps a couple a year.

I've since moved on from the world of 9-5 and work for myself so calling in sick is quite simple, I wake up, walk to the bathroom, look in the mirror and tell myself "I don't look good" and return to my bed.

Only time I've had time off when I said I was ill, was when I had to attend a drugs test for my police application.

I'd already taken a day off in the same week as a holiday, but it was arranged last minute and couldn't book it off officially.

Working for myself since I left school (not far off a decade now), I've never, ever had a sick day (or a hangover day, or a cba day).

</holierthanthou>

Now in my 40 'some thing' year and have been working since leaving school at 16.

I work in the public sector so have good sick provision, basically 6 months full pay and 6 months half pay.

I've never had a days sick, i know that everyone gets ill, but throwing a sulky sicky just because you dont fany going in really takes the pee.

The department i work in has one of the lowest sick rates in our organisation with less than 4 day per person per year.

Public sector? Damn right you shouldn't be allowed time off - we pay your taxes!

:D ;)

I'll send you my bank details, you'll be able to set a standing order up to pay my taxes:D

In a simplistic way, i'm self employed as my taxes pay my wages, or is it your taxes pay my wages that pay my taxes, or is it your taxes that pay my taxes that pay my wages, or........................................

Your wages are subsidised by privately employed taxpayers.....unless you pay more in taxes than you earn of course.:p

You're not self employed, you're employed by the Taxpayer.

Meh, get OcUK at home and at work, no need to call in sick!

AMIRITE?

+1 Truth has been told.

In my old job, which Khaaan! co-incidentally also worked at - I pulled many "CBA" sick days.

In my current employment, not one. Only legit sickness. I've been here 3 years.

I think it shows a great deal about the enjoyment/satisfaction you get from a job in the amount of CBA days you pull.
