SkyHD to Virgin V+HD

On the other hand if something goes wrong with your Sky box out of warranty, they charge you a fortune to fix it. With VM, since you rent it, it's totally free and they just repair or replace straight away.

In any case, if and when you leave Virgin Media, they never ask you for it back because they've long since written it off and it's not economical to get it shipped back to them, etc.

Two sides to most stories ;).

£65 for a service call, all inclusive and chances are if you say you're going to cancel they'll waive the fee anyway. Sky are giving away free HD boxes atm, although you need the HD sub for 12 months. What Virgin also don't say is it's normally £15 for an extra box and you need to be on a certain package to get the recording free, otherwise it's an extra charge AND HD is extra unless youre on a certain package as well!

Dont forget that on most, if not all VM packages you're paying for a box that will never be yours! I've heard prices from 'Free' to £250 for the Tivo based box yet the box will never be your property. Biggest swizz by Virgin ever.

Don't forget SKY also charged for the SKY+ plus box when that was first released.

I went the other way from VM hd to Sky hd, I miss my VM 50Mb broadband as it is the best available however Sky's TV and HD variety kicks VM's ass and the Sky HD box is more stable although cannot record as many things at once.

I would go back to VM tomorrow if they cabled to the house I moved to purely for the BB, one other area VM is better is customer service I had lots of issues with SKy's customer service since joining whereas VM solved problems swiftly and always compensated for any issues.

Good luck with your choice.
