Could anyone recommend any good places to find top-notch graphic and web design freelancers?

There are so many sites I don't know where to start!

(When I say the best, I don't mean super-premium £100/hour stuff... just you know, quality guys ;))

Twitter is a great place to find a lot of great designers. Someone made a list of the attendees of a conference coming up in January which is a web design and development conference so people on this list would be a good starting point - https://twitter.com/madeinthenorth/naconf2011

If you need specific names of people then shoot me an email and I'll send over some names of people I'd say were top-notch freelance designers :)

nope, recruiting someone didn't work out so I'm going to look at the costs to get a trusted freelancer or two who can hammer out work at the quality that we need... just need to have some conversations really...

tsinc80697 and Sp00n some names of people you know are good would be excellent - could you ping them over to me at [email protected]? That'd be superb :)

In terms of what we require Sp00n, someone who really knows their way around branding, website design conception and cutting (ready for dev) and design for print...

So its not for a specific job, more ongoing?

I will log your details with them and let them contact you directly, most of them are US based but they will be very capable.

I'm sure there are a few of us freelancers on here.

Like everything, you get what you pay for - but the most important thing (whenever I've outsourced) I hold over any is reliability. For instance I would be willing to sacrifice a little quality/originality for someone who is in constant contact, updates me on progress and generally gets the job done on time.

If you want the best then IMO you can't go wrong with Michael Heald of Fully Illustrated - http://www.fullyillustrated.com/

Top notch designer who does pretty much everything from charatcter illustration to web design. UK based too.
Phenomenal work tbh, but its all the same kind of cartoony awesomeness that wouldn't be suitable for most of our clients...

Massive kudos tho ;)

Sitepoint would be a good starting place,

You could also try 99designs.com, you can find some good designers floating around there.

To be fair, his typography and layout skills are awesome and can be easily applied to any type of design, not just cartoony ones.
