***The Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread***

Finally get to play "properly" after exams and Christmas and I'm running out of things to do.

Trying to Gold my last Sebastian Vettel challenge (the first), but other than that it's mostly endurance races.. so was wondering if people do anything worthwhile?

For reference: Level 33 A Spec and Level 35 B Spec.

Sounds like you're pretty good at this game
Sometimes we play online, there is a thread for it somewhere, I'll try to set something up tomorrow if I remember/stay lucid long enough.

pseud0, about grinding, the best place(s) are the oval Indy tracks in Like the Wind and the American Championship - use a Chev ZR1 RM for like the wind and the american one :) good luck.

I want to give the Vettel challenge a go, but I havent managed to try it yet because i keep forgetting and putting bob in an endurance race lol

Well Beginner and now Amateur series done started on Professional, Just bought a Dodge Viper SRT10 08 for 100k for the muscle race i know be way over what i need but i love the car.

Level 16(A-Spec yet to try B-Spec sounds like a snooze fest) going into it really enjoying the game. Though most my races ive gone in over powered due to receiving the chrome line and stealth cars with the edition i bought still having fun however :D

How many people here would be interested in some organized races with relatively good prizes?

Don't really want to go to all the hassle of setting up a championship but was thinking like 2 laps of the ring, with restrictions on cars/aids.

Prizes would be something like, any car up to say 1mil from the dealer for first, and then for second and third maybe some racing softs and a matte/chrome paint chip?

^^ B Spec? I could be 40 if I wasn't without my PS3 for a week and if I cared enough to go past level 35. Not a whole lot of other incentive to get there.

I might try the online stuff, but I don't think I have the patience with it all. Also with all the various duping around, it's not really my cup of tea so to speak :p

I love my G27 and racing, that's probably why ;)

My seating and mounting of the wheel isn't the best at my current location though and on tracks like the Ring F1 circuit, the force feedback makes it even more of a challenge. To get a good time, you need a semi decent wheel set up IMO - far far less irritating than the DS3 on lots of events.

Nice ninja edit there :D

Yes, B-Spec level 40. But it still counts :D. Did a couple of those seasonal events earlier and got myself to A-Spec level 30 and the 10 million credits trophy...... what the hell to spend it on lol. Could always nab the 1000 cars trophy with it :D

Yeah I edited it so I didn't double post :)

I don't think I'll ever reach level 40 in A Spec, the amount of endurance races to get there would be stupid. Unless other events via DLC or whatever appear then that would be the case until GT6.

Hmm, you just reminded me that the Seasonal events exist :P , will try some of those tomorrow after this 24HR Le Mans race....which I'm doing because I love the GT ONE and it's one of my favourite cars.

Whats the best cars to use for the Rally Specials? I know the Expert version has a finite list but not sure which cars will work for the 245/345bhp classes - should I assume anything with 4WD?

My advice would be to try the Loeb Challenge first, if you gold it you win a C4 WRC which will destroy that 245-345 event. The Extreme set is a bit more tricky, the stage times are all over the place. I managed to loose 17 seconds of lead over 100m on the final SS of the dirt rally and lost by a couple of seconds. I was not a happy bunny

I used the S. Shigeno version of the Hachiroku (Sprinter Trueno GT Apex) mildly tuned for the 245bhp one, and a random impreza I won for all but the tarmac 345bhp one, which I used a amuse s2000 I'd also won.

Apart from my 2-3 attempts at the tarmac stage in the impreza it was pretty easy all round iirc :)

What about the beginners one - Im under the impression that only certain cars can take snow/gravel tyres so dont want to buy a car and find it wont work. As you said the C4 will be fine for the other 2 difficulties...

Ive read somewhere that the Elise 111R RMed can do all 3 stages once tuned because of its weight - thoughts?

Keep an eye out in the used car dealers for Ford RS200 road cars and very early mk1 EVO's. Both just dip below 245 and 4x4 makes it SOOOO easy :)

Theres a 205 Turbo 16 road car in my Used right now - 199bhp/1145kg. Main reason why Im asking as sub-245bhp rally cars are rare...

Thinking the Focus I used for the Seasonals would be fine too, but its an FF, least with a FR I can make the bugger turn...

Ill keep an eye out :)

Contrary to what Mr Chapman said, its actually four wheel drive that makes you fast everywhere (On gravel and snow anyway) :D
