Mini Cooper S fanboy is back.

The problem is that Smokey did not actually say the Cooper S is a chavvy car. What he did say that the monstrosity that mjt posted up earlier was chavvy and to be honest, I'd think that the vast majority of this forum would agree with that.

(Actually, is what mjt posted earlier STANDARD!? I've got an awful feeling that it is :()
It's got the JCW bumpers, which are standard on the JCW obviously. The spots are options. Not sure about the rear spoiler though, but it's a JCW item.

That particular model has had every single JCW optin ticked. I think it was pushing €50,000 when new, which is quite frankly insane.
It's been for sale for 6 months now. The previous owner is a used car dealer. I think he's got a 645ci with Eisenmanns now..

Yeah true. They do need to be looked after though just like any car. Really fun cars however, but the 2.0L does suck juice.

Not true. A CTR is better on fuel than similar cars, VXR, Forcus ST, Cupra will all have worse MPG. Clio will be about the same, maybe tiny bit better for clio in MPG.

Of course it still needs to be looked after, that pretty obvious, but the chances of a properly serviced and cared for car going **** up are very slim.

I had mine for 2 years and it never missed a beat, once, and it can be ragged and ragged day after day. Mate had one for 6 months, he bought it with virtually no oil in it, and it was still ok, and yes he's a knob.

Did you, EP3? How much was a service?

First service was at Honda, was about £220 i think, following year i had it done at ABP and that was £175 about that.

Tyres were pricey, but i got bridgestones, they were 475 for all 4.

Front discs are £90 pads are less than 50quid, rears are less and hardly ever need changin, only do about 15% of breaking. Rear pads can be had online at camskill for £12, yep no joke.

Servicing is not expensive at all, the big service is 500quid at Honda and thats not very often at all, once every 6 years or somet.

Only thing it might need is oil more than most cars.

My DC5 likes a bit of oil to be fair.

To be fair though, the CTR is at least 20/30bhp down on all of those other cars mentioned and has considerably lower torque. I agree with the Honda build quality though, they are bullet proof unless you're a complete knob about it.

That's not bad for a service I was expecting it to be more. Drilled groove on a Type R are just lethal, the stopping power is lethal. But like you said they do like oil a lot.

Compared to your EP3, does the DC5 cost more to run or round about the same?

a DC5 and EP3 should cost basically the same to run really, apart from the insurance costs but thats different for every person.

They have the same service intervals and very similar engines, drivetrains and tyre sizes etc, only thing you notice with a DC5 is HAVING to put Vpower or Momentum in it all the time so that pushes costs up a tad

40BHP on the Astra....lol. Doesn't really matter does it? It's a hot hatch and the alternatives, it's just as quick as them.

Is your DC5 standard newman?

The lower kerb weight of the CTR is gonna help with MPG.....

Well ive only had it 6 months Vita, but like bob above says, there pretty similar, so running costs are almost the same, part of the appeal of it to be honest.

I had a service done before xmas and that was only £150 at ABP. Also had a seized bush/bolt taken off, and the Tein spring taken off that was still on, and a Eibach put on to match the other 3 that had been on for a few weeks.

Insurance is the biggest think like bob says. If your under 25, they can be rather a lot to insure, it's about £250 more than the CTR to insure and im 27.

Parts can be a pain to get hold off, i had to wait 3 weeks for the bush to come from Japan, and windscreens can be a nightmare. Brakes are just as cheap as a CTR, but all in all it's 99% of the running costs of the Civic. Honda stock most parts that you would want/need.

Gustov I know it's quite a bit different to what you're looking for. What about an MX5? Solid reliability, cheap to run and insure and good fun to drive. You could pick up a decent one within your budget. Of course if you want more seats disregard my post. :P
