right guys giving my 300 a bit of a work over due to problems with failing fans etc

so i'm starting from scratch again spec as below

p35 ds3r
Q9450 @ 3.5ghz (sits under a thermalright contact 29)
8 gig ram (4x2gig)
6970 @ 950/1450
2 hard drives
and a dvd burner

i'm thinking about a pair of akasa apache blacks doing intake in the 2x 120mm front fan bays and a matching 140mm exhaust in the roof with no other fans in the case bar the CPU HSF(contact 29 and the 6970's stock cooler is this the right way to set the flow up or would you guys reccomend a different arrangement? add fans take away fans etc etc

Sounds about right. The apaches are pwm so would work pretty well if hooked up to your motgerboard's pwm signal.

I'd probably go for a rear mounted fan and not have the top mounted fan purely for noise reasons, in fact I already did.

Are you aiming for positive pressure to help
with dust?

hopefully,

dust is a bit of a mare in my case,

i'm thinking if i use the 2 front mounts as an intake they'll be fine(as the case has a dust guard on the front 2 fans then use the 140mm up top as an exhaust thinking being air gets drawn in from the front, hits both cpu and gpu in equal measure, then is drawn out the top :)

Never had case fans in any case i have had or when i did they weren't in there long!!

I usually take them out and temps are always low. And no, i don't live in an Igloo!! lol
