Well, here is my current problem:

So i will probably RMA and ask for my money back as it is within 28 days.:D

However, i have also seen the thread about the new 7000 series.
I plan to liquid cool, so ATM EVGA seem to be the only brand that allow cooler removal in the UK, i also plan to go for 3D and was wondering if you MUST buy the nVidia glasses and an nVidia ready 3D monitor for it to work. I know that AMD allow the use of any 3D kit which is a bonus. I game at 1920x1080 and want to achieve at least 60FPS on all games.

If you were me, which card would you buy? I have an 8800GTX so have something to get by on whilst waiting if it's worth it.

Thanks.

If you want 1080p 3D @ 60fps then you are clearly aiming for a GTX 580. These ain't cheap - an EVGA one will set you back around £450. If you want to game in 3D then I believe Nvidia is the best option at the moment - their 3D tech is among the best, widely supported and frequently updated.

I also believe that Zotac will allow you to mount custom coolers - so long as no damage is caused to the card during installation or caused by the new cooler when in operation.

For nvidia 3d do you have to buy nvidia kit or can you use any kit as i am about to get a 3d tv and was hoping to use that

You can use a 3DTV (and the associated glasses) without having to buy the Nvidia 3D vision kit - by using Nvidia 3D TV Play, however you need to pay for this ($39.99).

Also, due to the smaller bandwidth of HDMI v1.4 (compared to dual link DVI), playing games on 3D TVs is limited to 720p50, 720p60 and 1080p24 or 720p60 and 1080p24. So you can't play games at 1080p50/60 in 3D mode on your 3D TV.

So is dp 1.2 worth waiting for?

If you want to game in 3D on your TV, I would.

However, if you want to play games soon in 3D then I would wait for the end of CES and see what all the new 120Hz monitor announcements are. Hopefully we will see a few 25in+ 120Hz monitors - which will help to make 3D gaming even more immersive and a better option than gaming on a HDMI 1.4 TV.

Dont bother with 3D, spend the money on better kit.

HD6990 and the biggest S-ISP monitor you can buy is the way to go.

I will probably get a 3D monitor - the TV is because i have a dwindling CRT ATM. I just want to know if iZ3D will work with a GTX580 (for example) as it would with an ATI card.

Is the 7000 series waiting for?

Well going by AMD's current releases it will be a nice card - however I wouldn't bet on it coming any earlier than late Autumn, so its a very long time to wait. Especilally considering the 6000 series top-end single GPU cards only just launched and the dual-GPU top-end card isn't out yet.

If you are sitting in a 8800GTX now - I would just buy something that is good now and have some fun, the waiting game is boring.

Looking at the benchmarks in this review - 6850CF actually performs better than a GTX 580 in a range of modern games.

The main downsides are that you are running a dual GPU configuration (with all the issues that entails) and slotting in a third card isn't a great upgrade option.

I cant actually have a third card in my system. Kinda defeats the point of the tj07. Are there any Ati brands that allow waterblock removal? Also, would you spend lits on graphics or less but get ssds aswell.

I thought the 6850 s scaled really well and that crissfire wasnt such an issue

Aye it does scale really well.

The issues I was referring were heat, noise, lack of room for extra expansion cards, games that don't support crossfire and games that don't work with crossfire at all.

However, if you are happy to live with these things then a 6850 CF setup will almost always deliver excellent gaming performance.

Actually. Is it eorth waiting for gtx 590?

It all depends whether you are happy to wait using the 8800GTX until it does appear.

Spring this year apparently. Should be ok. And if it is cheaper than the gtx 580 then i will certainly get it. But are the rumours true and why would it have dvi when hdmi and displayport are much better?
