I got X3 reunion off steam a few years ago and I have to admit that after about an hour I gave up as I couldn't really work out what the hell I was doing and the UI and controls I found to be really confusing.

HOwever I fired it up again yesterday and graphically it still looks awesome so i really want to try and give the X series another go and try and get into them properly.

I am an avid EvE player and I really love the whole space/sci fi strategy genre of games.

I read the X3 TC post and saw that massive improvement have been made to the interface controls and you can do it all easier via mouse now, which is a big think for me as I am not a real fan of joysticking.

So with this in midn shouild i just sack X3 reunion off and go straight for TC or do i really need to get to grips with reunion before cuting my teeth inTC ?

Also where is the best place to go to get really good guides for beginers, in all honesty the manual i found not worth to be the pixels its printed on :(

I've tried playing X3 about, well, 3 times now. Every single time I give up shortly after the tutorial and first mission. That starter ship is just SO DAMN SLOW, and I don't have the time to be sitting there and accomplishing just about naff all in an evening. :(

Real life sucks.

you know you can press J to activate SETA and the game speeds up to 6x faster? aslong as you dont make any changes to the ships heading/speed etc

you can even go into the options and change SETA speed all the way to 10x :p

once you have earned about 600k you can buy the level 3 trade upgrade for your ship , jump in any old cheapo ship and set the hauler with trade mk3 to trade on its own for you while you just press J and watch the money role in

You can?!?!

*reinstalls*

i havent lost an ai ship yet due to the ai piloting, lost my own a few times though,

i think i have like 10 indies running trades and about 4-6 more waiting for funds for the mk3 trade software lol

I think they made TC too easy and prefered Reunion. There are improvements to the game but its so quick to make cash and gain race reputation that it feels a bit cheap when you buy an M1 or M2, getting one in Reunion was a major achievement but I guess it did take a lot of play time to do.

AI piloting is sometimes utter genious :)
Crashes do happen, and not just between npcs and the pc, last night i watched a paranid ares 'bump' an argon military hospital, and it sparked off a massive battle in argon prime.
Hilarity ensused as i set my craft in the area to autosavage the fallen gear, not a massive earned but was a good lightshow

The best tip I ever received was from sprac regarding controls, hit the space bar and use mouse look to steer, the game suddenly becomes exceptionally playbale and flyable, z x and space bar, then steer with the mouse

X3 Reunion was unplayable for mainstream users to be honest.
Terran Conflict is less buggy and more streamlined but it's no where near Mass Effect / Dead Space / Half-life in quality.

i have, lost a springie UT just last night to a collision with a computer plant, damn shame really as he'd been a good little earner zooming about the place like a demented thing. :p

Ah thought it was some ts or something :P

Never thought of using an m6 as a ut, although i suppose the SB would be good with all that speed.

Shame you can't set up a TL as a Ut :(

thing would make billions :D

Is there any script/mod that lets you buy/build the terran facilities/stations?

you can buy the stations ( weapons plants/food etc ) upon completion of the variuos plots. tho if thats too much like hard work theres bound to be a script out there to bypass all that nonsense :p

really?

I was going by

http://eng.x3tc.ru/

Which doesn't seem to list anywhere you can buy the terran stations.

that site isn't complete, he only lists whats available at the start of the game, if you look at his map, it doesn't give the location of the players reward sector either.

if you complete the plots & reunifie Earth/Aldrin, you get access to a terran shipyard in TUS1 that sells Terran stations.
