Suggestion for a smartphone. Dilemma between Android/others

I have a Milestone and it's CPU and RAM certainly let it down unless you overclock it. In order to OC it, you need to root it, and I'm not sure about what that means for your warranty.

I have OC'd it, and I run it stable at 1100MHz essentially fixing the problem, making it a great handset. It can reportedly run fine as fast as 1200MHz, but I haven't tried it yet. Oh, also, having the option to quickly switch to a hardware keyboard with a D-Pad is awesome.

Wrong type of thread and its not even funny.

Yeah I had my old Milestone at 1.2ghz. Can't remember the vsel now but it made a huge difference to the phone.

My defy is now happily sat at 1.4 ghz at 70vsel and I'm getting 2 days battery out of it quite easily.

Once a fully 'de-blurred' custom rom is released I'll flashing it but for now I'm perfectly happy with it.

Yeah, I think I'm going for the Defy as it's a newer moddle with twice the RAM 512MB and 800mhz cpu which could be easily oc'd. The only mishap is that it doesn't hv a keyboard but oh well, the milestone 2 is too expensive and slide phones tend to get the screen ribbon damaged by time so that's a gd point for not having a slide phone.

I've found the Defy on eb.. (can i say it on these forums?) at 350eur with 3 years warranty from the shop of that seller. Is it worth it?

Thanks a lot for all your help, much appreciate it, although didn't understand the pic vry well xP

+1 for the Defy. Certainly don't bother with the Vivaz, my gf has one and the build quality is terrible and Symbian sucks as usual. It's not horrendous, but there are other far better phones out there.

mm true =[ it was 247 3 days ago ;/ Also does anybody know how much warranty do Amazon give you as I did not see any warranty periods on the product description (at least not all had)

Hmm, how do I get rid of it without voiding the warranty? Warranty is important to me as I have 2 years. Also official Froyo is coming out in April for it :D

Install launcher pro first, see if you are happy with overall performance. If not follow the basic rooting guide on XDA (you can always reset it to stock if you have any warranty issues, a complete failure is highly unlikely)

Rooting doe'snt void a warrentee but flashing unofficial ROM's does. But as said it's usually fairy easy to get back to stock if you had to send it in.

edit: after a bit of research i see that rooting does void a warrentee, i was under the impression that it did'nt
