...think I'll hold off on that 3DTV.

Shocking stuff, though. I have worked with a person in a very similar situation, and it's unbelievable how people can get themselves into such a state.

£700 a week social care bill. Mental.

I caught a bit of the end of it. The narrator said he'd been bed ridden for ten years. Who on earth kept feeding him for all that time?

I couldn't help but laugh at the surgery footage. They hacked off 10kgs of leg meat then one of the butchers asked a nurse to pass him the bin. Something about that tickles me. It was like he was throwing out left overs :p

He obviously got serious problems and I think that the person who has gone out and bought him all that food for 10 years is just as much to blame. It's not like he would have stood up and made food/gone shopping himself because he wouldn't be able to! And if he did then that's just good anyway

Going to watch the whole episode myself tomorrow.

Probably a repeat as saw same name show years ago. I find it disgusting that the carers buy snacks for them instead of healthy food i mean iirc the show tells one of them eats cream dairy things and stuff i mean dude that aint gona help.

It is also strange to see that one i think the one with the funny hair cut likes being that way and prides on being the fattest man in the UK. I mean wtf.

If one of them was me id ask for surgery to get it all cut off as i couldnt live like that.

Iirc as well at the end one of the large men did get thinner tho not as thin as he probably wanted to but anything was better i suppose. So cudos to him.

A friend of my missus was told she would die within the next 5-10 years unless she sorted herself out (mid 20's and must be 25+ stone) - she carries on...... no idea why.

If someone told me I'd die unless I change my eating habbits then I'd do so in an instant!

Saw a similar program years ago, the guy had a girlfriend/carer and she had to dress his pussed sores........ nearly threw up.

When i googled the BFM from title i found a Timothy Spall program which was based of Jack Taylor (fat guy with funny head thing with black tape). Was gona watch it but damn thats crap what roles he gets played in these days. Didnt watch it cos it would ruin the image i have of him from Auf Wiedersehen, Pet.

It was actually pretty good, though. :)

I watched one other day, different person but went shopping and came out with 2 shopping trollys full.. £400 a fortnight on food alone. goes to birmingham games and sinks 20 pints min, 40 on a good day. goes indian and orders the whole menu.. I just think who the hell pays for all this, and why? People who do not work just have bare essentials, not be able to enjoy pleasure of football games and so forth and 20 pints on a night out, and be able to fill himself up so much he gains so much weight.

Yes im jealous, mainly because i graft my balls off and dont get to do any enjoyment as i still cant afford it, and it frustrates me people sit and get the world handed to them on a plate.

I think you guys saying taking the P or people saying "hes a pig" or "IF I WAS HIM ID STOP EATING" need to ask "Why is he eating" rather than "why hasnt he stopped eating" Eating can be like a drug to some people. Just as strong as heroin, coke or meth.

Drugs can fill a BIG gap for people, give them support and a high feeling when there feeling low. Food does the same thing. I feel bad for the guy :( Maybe its one of them things where you have to know a person like this or (Like me)know/work with people with eating disorders and seen how hard it can be for them.

It does anger me when people go "WHEN HE GOES TO HOSPITAL, GUESS WHOS PAYING FOR HIM! THE TAX PAYERS THATS WHO!" Yet people are happy to pay for 40 a day smokers when they get lung/throat cancer. Both are brought on by the 'user' and Both are illness just as bad as each other.

Except tax on cigs is HUGE and tax on food is?

It sounds harsh but the only way you can fix problems like this is to remove the money. When he has to work to get the money to eat maybe he will understand?

As a non smoker I have to strongly disagree with you there. Smokers get refused a lot because they smoke, and at tax payers money, how much duty do you think the smoker pays on 20 ciggerettes? He/She is well within their right to recieve treatment at a national hospital considering they pay a lot into the system with their habbit.

Spongers who sit on their backsides feeding their life away I have no sypathy for, just as a drug addict, they blame everything but themselves.

Tax on tobacco is so high that it covers the costs to the NHS with money to spare.

But you make a fair point. This man clearly can't just stop eating, in the same way that an alcoholic can't just quit drinking. I've got not sympathy for either. It's up to them to make the change.

Whilst that is true, what you do have to ask is why were people continuing to feed him huge amounts of food after he was bed ridden? He couldn't get out of bed and couldn't even stand, meaning it was his careers who continued to feed him a huge amount of calories, otherwise he would never have hit over 50 stone.
