Amplifier for around £30-£45

We are looking for a second hand amp - something like an A1 would be great but it needs have a remote as it will be used with our skybox in the front room

What is there out there?

what sort of amp is the a1? i was thinking the old cambridge audio a1`s? dont think they had remote controls did they?

iv got an oldish aiwa 60w amp spare for that kinda money but no remote.

Don't think many Cambridge amps have remotes ? Try a 2nd hand Nad on the bay ... ?

Kind of related but, if you do get an amp with a remote and your using Sky+ you can usualy tune your Sky remote to work the volume on your amp..

Just done it with my Old Nad 310 that had a broken remote. saves getting up constantly to change the volume at no extra cost

CINEMA SURROUND AMP? A1's still go for 100s but lots of similar YAMAHA DSP or SONY STR models can be had for peanuts & good for HC.

^ You can get A1s for ~£50 doing a quick search

Yep, its a Cambridge. I sold one a few years back for £25 (paid £30 for it 2 years before)

after a quick google it shows you can get remote controls for them so would pressume so yes, its an mx-d9.

Thanks, do you know if we could program our Sky remote to the volume on the mx-d9? I found the Aiwa tv code (037) but think this will be different to programming an amp for volume

im not entirely sure tbh, iv never bothered with remotes, even on my current sony which actually has one and i never really understood how you programmed different/generic remotes to different things although i do know it can be done.
