Not seen a post about it yet

anybody looking to get this?

i hear they dropped GFWL [hurrah!] and it will be ran through the steam client

cant really find much detailed info on what is going to be included in the game, quite like the idea of the packs on steam, although im not totally sure what they do.

anyone else care to share your thoughts on the series?
anyone got it preordered already?

what race did you choose, personally i am looking forward to imperial guard, hoping they are included in the multiplayer, they were epic in winter assault :D

thats what i was thinking

paid £10 for chaos rising in a shop when it came out, knew the code just activated on steam.
the DOW series has always had [and retained] these massive prices though.

it does just feel like an expensive expansion though.

would have been annoyed if i spent more than £15 on chaos rising.

Nope, i prefer the old basebuilding 40k :(

I sortof lean in this direction aswell. DoW2 has better strategy, no denying it. But it doesn't feel like 40K. It lacks the epicness and the vehicle units are a bit crummy. However, the original DoW has such bad strategy which makes it so bad in sometimes. I think DoW is the more fun game, but DoW2 is the better.

IG were my 2nd favourite race so I think I'll be buying this expansion if it comes on sale :)
Any idea how they are going to do the spammyness of the imperial guard, with such a small unit count and small maps? Can't imagine it to be pulled off well

Strangely its 30 euros and 30 GBP which sounds a bit odd.

I enjoyed DoW2 though i never bothered to pick up Chaos Rising...

I like that you'll be able to play the campaigns with every race. That feature was the reason the original DoW in it's Dark Crusade period was probably my favourite PC game of all time - certainly the best RTS I ever played.

I enjoyed DoW2 and Chaos Rising, but the story modes never seemed to focus enough on the RTS front for me to get addicted to them. I'm hoping they give you more freedom in how you want to approach missions in this expansion, with a Risk-style campaign map like in Dark Crusade seemingly the best way for this to be implemented, but I'm not sure it will work with the current way they want DoW2 to be played.

I think this will be a fairly decent expansion, i think they will need to sort out population limits etc. though as i thought they were extremely badly done in the standard Dow II, havent played Chaos Rising yet, a limit of 100 with a terminator squad costing 21 iirc. They also need bigger maps and the option for more tactical based larger battles i think.

There are some extremely good modding communities for DOW2 that address a lot of the things that you talk about. I believe the mod I used to use is called the CODEX EDITION, although I cant be sure as I tried a lot of different ones.

Retribution looks very good, although £30 for an xpac is a bit too rich for my liking, so I will probably avoid the pre-release and pick it drops to around £15. One of the few things this year (PC games wise) that I have been looking forward too.

Been burned by DoW2 tbh, absolutely dire compared to the first.

Will wait for a proper sequel and hope they get back to being faithful to the game :(

What I don't get is why they don't make a game that's actually like the table top game. You could pick your army before hand from the army list, gearing them up the way you wanted. Then it could be turn based, it would be damn good and would really set itself out from all the cookie cutter RTS games out there.

What, you mean exactly like Chaos Gate that came out years ago?

No, because that was nothing like the game. Chaos Gate was more like Space Hulk.

I'm talking about a turn based games with armies and squads, not individuals with action points. It would be like the game with a movement phase, shooting phase, close combat etc.

getting this, think i'll go for the ork pack

liked DoW1 but you can only play so many C&C/AoE basebuilding clones before you need something new

They can **** right off for charging £30 for this

its meant to be an expansion so why price it like a full game
