Quietest cooler for 2600K around 4.7Ghz?

I'm looking to hit around 4.5 - 4.7Ghz on around stockish voltages on a 2600K CPU. I'm looking for the quietest cooler that's going to allow me to do this. I was looking at the H50 but have heard some air coolers are better. Any recommendations?

I'd rather change my rams heatsinks than compromise on cooler.

The Thermalright HR-02 looks like it's very good and being passive will be silent. If I need to cool it with a fan I can stick one on it. I'll look over each of them again and since I'm using low profile ram now ( Geil value ) the Noctua should be ok.

Don't waste money on expensive coolers for Sandybridge, they work better with air cooling than extreme cooling

"In fact, the processors will actually start to downclock as they get colder with temperatures under -20C actually performing worse than the retail air cooler at times. The processors optimal range for performance is around 15~20C in our testing."

Interesting to know, I'm looking for silence rather than keeping temps really low. I've done some more reading and the Noctua D14 looks like the heatsink of choice although each review I read says differently.

I have a cooler very similar to yours dave_beast on my Q6600, I wonder if it's compatible??

Ive read these 2 threads here;

Would appear the H50/H70 are good coolers but if your worried about leaks/noisy pumps or noisy fans and want further silence I dont think you can beat the higher end coolers with 14cm fans.

NHD-14 and thermalright silver arrow/HR-02 seem to top the list, would appear however that the Silver Arrow already comes with most silent 14cm fan pretty much out there according to xbit review here:

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/coolers/display/140mm-fan-roundup_13.html

And once again such a shame Ocuk... being in the overclocking business dont actually stock the 2 top rated Corei7/i5/Sandybridge heatsinks nor sell the top rated Thermalright TY-140 14cm fan :(

Im gonna try and go Silver arrow myself If i get a chance or HR-02 sounds good but then I may get a TY-140 fan :)

Great choice just make sure you get low profile ram or one where you can take the top half of the heatsinks off.

I'm thinking of the Cooler Master 212+ but want to know how easy it is to replace the stock fan and if it comes with the necessary bits to fit a second 120mm fan?

Have been up to just over 4.8ghz, and it was very nice and cool there thanks

Yes, the cooler comes with the attachments to mount the 2nd fan on the back. You can use any 120mm pwm fan.

Wasn't being sarcastic just asking what temps you get at the OP 4.7 ghz and noise levels. As he wants 4.7 ghz and quiet.

Btw have you guys seen the new Thermalright Archon looks to be up there with the SA and D14 but without the ram clearance issues.

agreed, seeing as some sort of speed stepping was on - The poster who put up the image CPU speed was only 1.6 :p
