***The Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread***

Very noob question (understandable though since I've only bought the game today! ;)) but whats the deal with the b-spec races?
It says I have to create a driver - does this mean I dont drive as "myself"??

Thanks.....

You dont drive at all... Instead you vaguely instruct an AI driver "commonly known as Bob" to Speed Up, Slow Down, Overtake, Panic, Pit in...

Bob is crap, so you need to give him a vastly superior car and be lucky, once Bob is level 10+ it becomes a complete waste of electricity, simply grinding him up to recieve the bonus cars for each challenge completed.

Well to be fair i only did it to get me to level 28 but yes the prize car is rubbish :p

Endurance wouldnt be such a problem if PD let you swap drivers with a B-spec driver as you would expect to be able to do in "The real driving simulator" and also gave out worthy prize money and prize cars, 1-2m credits and a racing car would be fair.
Theres more chance of me doing the 24hr races to be honest as at least theres a lot of XP to be had and a decent car. :(

Yeah the system they had in GT4 was perfect, you could do a stint then let b-spec do a stint. I don't mind endurance races as such though, but aslong as it's a decent track and not something thats taking me under 1 minute/lap and thats not that fun to drive.

Speaking of b-spec i havn't started that and probably won't until they let you play it at 3 times the speed like it was in 4. I hate everything about it, hearing about my mates drivers beeing god awful and not doing well would just be too frustrating to me :p

B-spec isnt too bad once you have good cars to put them in.
The only race that I can remember having to sit there and tell him what to do all the way through was the FGT Championship.
Pretty much all the others can be used with an over powered car if needed, plus b-spec earns you the Red Bull X1 2010 while you sleep when you get him to the Endurance races.

ALmost there in a-spec, I may start b-spec at some point if it's the only way i can get the toyota 7 race car for the historic racing series.

It's a long old slog to get to Toyota 7 in B-Spec, I started properly yesterday evening (had previously worked up to level 10) I'm now at level 20 so just unlocked the extreme events, need to do grind up to 21 and then he should be able to win like the wind fairly easily with the minolta I hope...

The most annoying bit is the grind though, up to level 12 it's fine and you can just do races, but then you regularly need to grind even after completing every race available to you, quite simply the gameplay is broken, imo.

Still, although it's taken a long time to get this far I've spent most of it reading/watching random stuff rather than actually concentrating on it, although only my middle monitor (triple monitor setup *** :p) has a HDMI port so to watch vids/read websites I need to look either left or right whilst bob's doing his stuff...

trust me by the time bob hits 33 you will be sick of putting him in endurance races and be like "I WANNA PLAY MY DAMN PS3!!"
Put them on the 9 hour overnight, I've got to 36 now. PS has been on.. I think 3 days straight.. maybe more. Game only crashed twice in that time :D

Mine was on almost constantly over Christmas, and didn't crash once  I just stuck it on a window sill to keep it nice and cool :p

How do you think I feel, I got the buggers up to 40! :o

Last endurance race is set to end at 2am then only the silly trophies remain.

Gah, this is just silly, 1 level 20 event with 2 races, the Schwarzwald League B, total XP for both races is less than 15k, you need 69k to get to level 21, grinding fun, yay.

Seriously whoever decided on this levelling system needs to be fired, utterly retarded.

At least the races are longer now and I've given him the clk race car so he doesn't need any help, gives me ~17 minutes to read my book per attempt :p

Question: in the events where there are championships held, did you just do the championship/single races or the whole lot?. I've cleared everything in B-Spec (well, will do at 2am!) and I only had to start grinding at 26.
