H50, H70 or...

There might be a H90 or revisions of the older models coming - I saw a forum post mention about "stay tuned for an announcement at CES on Wednesday" posted by Corsair on some forum when I was looking at an 800D thread - it was from some Corsair person. Didnt say what it was or even type of product.

Hi,

I noticed above you mentioned it is loud, I had this on the PC i ordered from OCUK, was noisy as hell, the fans were running at full whack all the time.

I found that in the BIOS the fan control method was set to "auto" and this did nothing, the 2 standard fans are 3 pin so the PWM option does nothing either so I used the "Volt" option and now they idle at about 1050 so it is virtually silent and under load get to about 1350 to 1400 and whilst it is louder it is perfectly acceptable as far as I am concerned.

Sent the H70 back for a refund today, which I don't like doing, but it was either that or an exchange because the loop was only two thrids full and the pump was noisy. No help from corsairs forum which is strange and there are reports of leaks on there too.

Going to get the NH-D14 now, will save water for when i can afford a decent custom loop.

lol thats confusing to say the least the above 2 post one saying hes sent it back and anothers saying buy it....

These liquid coolers seem a little risky to me all the talk of noisy pumps/fans and leaks think ill stick to air coolers and have full control of what fan goes on it :)

I was considering both the H50 and H70 but decided on either the Thermalright HR-02 (thanks to cmndr_andi) or Noctua D14 ( thanks C64 ). Either can be used as a passive cooler and if you need better cooling for extreme overclocks you can stick a fan them. Being just a chunk of metal nothing can really go wrong! :)

Saying that, I managed to cool my 920 passively at 4GHz.

I had that exact cpu with that exact case with the H-50 and got my 620 to 3.64Ghz with temps never going over 50C.

H70 all the way, bought one last year and replaced the fans with enermax bat wings, quiet as anything :'D! Temps on my phenom II 955 BE @ 3.6 idles at 36C.
