What's up with young people constantly updating their facebook status on their phones and laptops?

"Robert just ordered a cheeseburger and is browsing the newspaper!"

Who the heck cares?

Nowadays people document their lives more then Anne Frank when the war broke out.

What's even funnier is when people announce they're deleting/leaving facebook. My cousin just wrote this..

I never bothered with Facebook and co.

I dumped IM about 5 years ago after being one of the first people on ICQ.

Sadly forums are just as bad a time sink

I find forums and emails more conversational. Yes, I did my Facebook bit, was on there 2½ years. I found the *pokes*, mini updates (as the OP mentioned here) and Farmville all to be pretty pointless so I left the FB game. My only social networking presence now is deviantART which is more of a skinning/custo/art site.

the amount of crap people talk on my FB is unreal! they lead such fake lifes, the amount of times i see people type "OMG my life is amazing i feel the best ever, im doing this, this and this this year and its gonna be best thing ever!" do they do anything of it? NO! what people say and what people do on that crap website is unbelievable! the next day they are the most depressed people on the planet. "im not drinking ever again, my life sucks etc etc" drives me mental i dont even know why ive got them on there, just people i knew from school, work etc.

also this one girl posted on facebook about where to get a piercing, was either on her lips (downstairs) clit or nipples! and she let people decide and then she got it done! she advertised if people wanted to see it she would private message them the link to the picture! half the people she didn't even know she just adds anyone on it cause she thrives attention more then anyone ive ever met!

the amount of info about there personal life's people post on facebook is something ill never understand! whats the matter with people these days!

Not sure if anyone else has noticed this.

I've met a few people that have been on Facebook for god knows how long. Each and every single one can't type proper English. (Mine's not perfect) more importantly they seem to lack people skills.

Is it just me or do people that prefer to communicate via txt/email and BookFace lack real social skills?

Seems to be a bunch of people signed up to a service they don't like. Why is that confusing me?

And you do know you can a) just not be friends with them, b) block any updates they send out from ever reaching you c) mock them for being so stupid d) deactivate the account which seems to be causing so much consternation.
