Sticky issue is however is when it comes down to you buying the car second hand and you're not given a list of what was factory options and what was standard spec.
That's exactly what i mean

However i suppose when you get down to cars that i'm likely to buy (< 5k) what's an "option" becomes less important anyway because it needs much less of an accident to write the car off.
Also if i get a relatievly minor shunt from behind as long as i'm not damaged i'm less likely to go through his insurance and more likely to get the relevant parts from a breaker.
