Focus 1.6 with ST170 body

Having had a think about it I agree it isn't a big deal, the majority of friends/work colleagues probably don't even know what an ST170 is :p

I'm sure some will take the **** but hey, its my first car and I want it to look nice without crippling me financially :D

I'm back :D

Work got in the way of car hunting but I'm hoping to have found one by next weekend

I'm planning on going to look at a 1.6 Elle Focus tomorrow

It's an 03 reg, 65,000 miles, 3 door with ST looks

Its from a garage and they are asking £3800 for it which is quite a bit more than others I've looked at.

Obviously I won't know much more about it till I see it but if it looks/drives well what should I realistically look to offer?

Also what are the main things I should be looking out for? ( I know to check everything works and for signs of excessive wear and tear but that's as far as it goes)

Thanks in advance!

Seems a lot for an 8 year old 1.6 Focus with those miles to be honest. If it was an actual ST then the price would be ok i think.

Would £3k be over priced?

I doubt I'll be able to get a grand off, guess that's the price of buying from a garage

I know people can't really give it a value without seeing it and I've only got a newspaper description so far so can't give any more details

Will know a lot more by tomorrow though!

I don't care what the seller thinks how much its worth and without seeing that car and assuming its absolutely perfect, its still only worth 3k tops. £3800 is touching early mk2 money!

As has been said before, that is a ridiculous amount of money to spend on a 1.6 MK1 Focus. Especially considering that'll look neigh on identical to the early bangers readily available for a Grand.

Surely I should be avoiding the £1k bangers when I can afford better?

I want something to last that hasn't been run into the ground and looks half decent

Well dont get the 1k bangers but don't spend over 3k on this one.

Even 3k is probably too much.

I think the point people are making is there is a 'good' price point for every car.

Mk1 Focus' go from £700 odd up to apparently £4000ish, why spend £4000 when when say a £2500 example will pretty much always do the same.

As always buy based on condition over absoultely everything else. I can't help but think in case people spend more money than they need to on cars just to make themselves feel better.
