No one to sign my passport application

I am 23 and need a first adult passport. I do not know anyone that can sign the application, because everyone I have known for over 2 years is not a person of professional standing within the community.

My doctor who knew me for 2 years has left the practice, and the new doctor has only known me for less than 1 year. I only just joined a dentist a few months ago, so that's a no go. I haven't known a teacher for more than 2 years either. Except in High School, but that was a million years ago in a different part of the country; not an option.

I have been with my bank for 12.5 years, but no one at the bank knows my face so i expect i cannot ask the bank manager to do it for me....

Any ideas?
 
I thought you could get a solicitor to do it, if you provided other official documentation to prove who you are (driving license etc)
 
Basically, I have read the list. No one on it I know, or have known for 2 years. So unless I can have a friend who has a basic job like working in a hotel sign it, then I'm screwed.

Surely they would look at the application and see the person who's signed it isn't on the list, and refuse the application.

Though as Morba said, I think you can pay a solicitor if needs be (not your solicitor, just any). AFAIK all you need is photo ID to prove you're who you say your are (obviously not needed if it's your solicitor you've been with for years) and the £15/20 the charge.

OP, just think of all the people you have known for over two years, make a list and then see who you can match against the passport application list. By the way, knowing for over two years doesn't have to be close friends, just knowing for that time span and have met regularly I would suppose, so a postman should do the trick..
 
Limited company director is on the list I think, well it was when I last signed one.

Company directors are easy to find.
 
It only says that you need a counter-signature for a first passport, not a first adult passport so it may not even be necessary if you've already held a child passport. Unless your appearance has changed so significantly from your last picture that you are unrecognisable?

I'm also not sure that banks are tremendously fussy about such things, they tend to have a stamp with basic details and then sign to "confirm that this is a true likeness of person XXXX" since it's somewhat rare nowadays that people will know their bank manager personally or that they won't have moved around.
