** Official World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Thread **

I started playing WOW 10 day free trial yesterday, I went orc warrior, level 6 or something now.


I find it 'ok' but no different than any other MMORPG that i've played such as guildwars etc

Why do so many play?
 
I think it's because there's so much to do on the game even at low levels and with the 'changed' areas (low level) and the new quests people find it more enjoyable also now you can reach 85 people are still gearing for heroics and raids etc.


I'm not sure which char I want to level, I've got my shammy but not getting drawn in by it at all, I was thinking of leveling a Draenei Pala but I'm not sure as I already have a level 35 Human Pala, It's just I want the Draenei Pala mount :D Looks much nicer.

What should I do? Keep leveling my 48 Shammy? or make a Draenei Pala?

Run a few instances and/or do some PvP before judging it :)
 
Ok, i'll level up a bit more then!

I'm playing it on a 13"MBP (2010) it looks fine and runs well, but it's getting up to around 80/85oc !! Is that too hot?

I wouldn't worry. My old MBP CPU reaches temperatures of 90*c before the fans start to spool up faster.

If you're worried get a fan controller. :)

When i go through the gate there is no alter to start the quest/mission

I need to do this to continue as no quests are coming up at all for me to progress

Having a quick look through the wowhead comments, what version of WoW are you running?

It could be a case of altering the 2 configs in your WTF folder to say

accounttype "CT"

And then grabbing the updates it throws at you.

Guesswork though. :)

This someone said installing Wraith of the lich king worked so do what is said in the quote and should install more stuff.

You're lv6. You're nowhere. The Armory wouldn't even have your character listed yet. You haven't even scratched .000000001% of the game. You haven't done anything apart from the first 20 quests. Hell, you're probably not even out of the starter area yet. Keep playing it, and comeback in 6, no, 12 months when the DNA of the game has engrained itself into you. There's a reason 11 million + people is playing this. There's a reason this game has featured on documentaries as a dangerously addictive game.

wow & burning Crusade :( whats the point in having a quest which needs lich king with wow-bc :/

going to get trial of lich king then!

Probably an oversight by Blizzard where they used a model from the wotlk expansion or something judging by the complaints of checkered floating cubes. :)

It'll be on the to-do list with the other none important post-nerf stuff :D
 
Losing the love for this, can't be bothered to level another character and my mage's DPS just sucks too much for heroics, unless I'm getting carried by other classes.
At my max I'm getting about 7.4k compared to over 10k for other classes (Pally for instance).
Might change my OS to frost and try some PVP, as I remember reading that that's doing well in PVP atm
 
I need to start leaving WoW until the weekends as I need to concentrate more on college within the week and then have some chill out time on the weekend, so far it's not to bad but I get bored and then go on and then do nothing because I'm bored :p
 
Loving wow at the moment, just got my hunter to one bar off 85 (already got my pala tank to 85). I plan on questing in every zone (Currently done Hyjal, Deepholm and Uldum) I have fairly decent gear (mostly rep and blues from quests) and I'm doing a contant 9k DPS and in instances 10k + DPS.

I have just started a goblin warrior with the heirloom items and thats also awesome.
