Hey,

I have a corsaid HX 520 and wondering if this is ok for a new build im planning.

Spec will be SB i5 2500k with 8gb ram + Radeon 5770.

Thanks :)

Cool, thanks - why do people get 6/700 watt PSU's on similar rigs then? Been told 500 is too low so started to worry. :D

Yep your psu is enough mate, well people who go for 600w+ ones normally end up using more than 1 card, or want to future proof themselves.

Some people plan ahead and having a 600/700W PSU would mean they will be able to upgrading to high power consumption cards such as GTX480/GTX580/6970 without having to upgrade the PSU again.

Or they are one of those people who got a cheap generic 600/700W PSU, which would be lucky to output 70% of the rated watts without the PSU blowing up.

Hey,

Corsair HX is a very high quality PSU, you'll be fine :)

Also, the trend seems to be that manufacterers are trying to make components consume less power not more, so it should still last you a while unless you are planning to SLI/Crossfire.
