I cant help it, new car again - 3 series

I'll be doing the trip every few days so I'll try to get something more accurate. Now im back to work I can test better mpg... surely the computer cant be that far off over 100 miles?

Like I said though, no slow downs other than the odd truck0r

Its alos strange, looking at the forums, some people are getting no more than 25mpg yet others are getting close to 40... I see what Fox means about the random mpg numbers available.

I think it just comes down to how much town use versus mway

most accurate method is just to brim it before and after

Would be interesting to see how accurate it is.

^^This.

A truly accurate way of measuring fuel economy is to measure the miles per gallon over a known distance with a known amount of fuel. However, tyre size and wear will also be a factor in this to a certain degree when you chuck rolling radius into the equation.

i've read the same sort of things.

Will definately be interesting to find out if you really can get that sort of mpg from a twin turbo petrol 6 cylinder.

If you are boring enough to set the cruise to 70mph for your trip to Edinburgh I'll buy you a pint if I ever meet you - thats the one meaningful figure I care about but understandably no 335i owner can give me it :D

My thoughts on economy as follows. I don't give a stuff what sort of fuel economy I get, provided that when I go on a long trip (Which I tend to do fairly often lately), I get as much fuel economy as possible.

Burning fuel at 20mpg when hooning around town doesnt bother me.

Burning fuel at 29mpg up the Motorway just seems wasteful :D

It also comes down to whether you have the patience to sit there with the cruise on 70.
I don't, but Fox does, hence his ridiculously high extra-urban MPG figures.

I honestly just don't have the patience. I've tried it many times before, but end up setting it to 90. It's a bit sad, really.

Which forum do you find best for 335i owners, Axeboy? E90post.com is full of Americans crying about the fact the HPFP might die so they are going to CHOP THE LEASE IN FOR A LEXUS.

Aslong as I can return >40mpg at 85mph on the motorway/dual carriageways, I'm happy.

Couldn't live with sub 30 on a run, you'd almost be able to see the gauge drop as you drive along!!!!

You've obviously not discovered the UK subforums then

I hasten to add the N54 engine rebuild thread isn't in the UK section lol but it is being carried out in the UK on an E90Post members car.

Some awesome photography of some wallet-busting components there too!
