T-Mobile reducing data caps from 3GB per month to 500MB.

wow, this is going to cost them an arm & a leg !

So its going to be free for people to get out of their contracts now, hand for those that want a new phone.

Tmobile are arguing that people cannot cancel (Well, some) because they put in newer contracts that any Internet data allowance is a gift, your paying only for the mins + texts, and data allowance is likely to change with 1 months notice when Tmobile feel like it, basically.

So with that in mind .. T-mobile might of pulled off an epic swindle.

3gb Android, 3gb web and walk + and 1gb Web and Walk are all effected.

They all decrease to 500mb - Browsing, emails, video, music etc all take data off of this limit.

Once you reach 500mb, video, music etc are disabled, but you can still browse and check emails.

So its not -quite- as bad as it sounds at first, but still pretty poor! :(

Hmmm, how would this affect those that bought through a third party site?

Think that's the 1GB W+W isnt it?

I don't actually know how much I use a month, any way of checking?

Agreed !
BUT! if they use the lure of the data as part of the advert, then I guess you could argue that you signed in good faith as part of the contract.
I guess those that this will affect will be all over anyway, but will be intering to see how it plays out.

Also amusing that Orange tried this .. got in the crapper over it.

Merge with T-mobile, write some crap in their contracts so they cant cancel and try it again.

2.11.2. If You are a Consumer and the change is of material
detriment to You, We will send You Written Notice 30 days
before the terms and conditions are due to change. The
new terms and conditions will apply to You once that
notice has run out, unless You terminate Your Agreement
with Us within that notice period. If You do this You won’t
have to pay any Cancellation Charge that would otherwise
apply, see point 7.2.3.2.

That seems to be your get out clause. Thanks to Coiler on another forum for posting that.

so basicly we need to get on the phone and make them aware that the change is detremental to us and then they will write to us to inform us formally, we can then cancel?
ive just got a 24month contract with tmobile all on the basis of there 1gb internet fair usage, shockingly back handed on there part and i hope there is a get out clause, will be watching this thread very closely, i got my contract through a third party so i hope that wont make a differance

From what I says, I guess that within 30 days of the change (if it even applies to you) then they will write to you letting you know. If the change is detremental to you then you can ask to leave without facing a charge.

including the remainder of the contract? if so ill be taking my omnia 7 and showing the finger to tmobile. will be keeping a close eye on this, im on the w+W 1gb plan, id imagine it falls under the new rules.

if anyone does successfully terminate there contract with no remaining costs or charges i hope they will post here asap.

Now that Orange have bought T-Mobile out this doesn't suprise me at all as Orange only offer 250MB inclusive with their plans so they wouldn't want everyone to go to T-Mobile and nobody to go to them. This just reeks of absolute stuipidity though as they must know that everyone will just get out of their contracts due to the change in terms, I know of people that have done so for far more trivial things that this.

how do you check data usage, all my account says is inclusive data its lists all the usage but doesnt total it.
