Wow, I am impressed with this. It's basically a charging station for a Magic Mouse but doesn't require any faff other than changing the battery pack over once and then to charge just putting it onto a small cradle.

Anyone else interested in these? I think it's only just been announced so isn't available yet.

I ordered this in December and still haven't got it yet due to delays. I'm about to write a sarcy email to customer service since they keep saying 'it'll be in any day! We'll ship it next day delivery!' and I'm still waiting.

I'm going to have the pad connected to a USB hub so it'll charge overnight while the Mac is off (although I tend to leave it on a lot of the time too) at the side of the desk, so it's within arm's reach, or just stick it on it when I go wash up e.t.c. then just pick it up and stick it on the mat to use.

It's not wireless power - you have to put it on the base station just like every other wireless mouse. It's designed to trick people into thinking they don't need to charge their mice.

You're paying a premium to avoid having to either buy batteries/charge rechargeable ones and go through the 'turn mouse off, take out batteries, replace batteries, turn mouse on' process, which admittedly doesn't take very long. I have strips of teflon tape on the feet of my Magic Mouse because otherwise it's a rough, noisy glide over my surface and don't really want to have to replace the strips every time I need to change batteries.

Excellent little mod, just wish the Magic Mouse wasn't so damn weird to use. I could not settle with it, so I bought a White/Silver Logitech V470, brilliant little mouse.

Couple of phone pics. I use teflon tape on the feet of the mouse because they're rubber and a bit poo on cloth mats. A couple of strips later and glide is restored. This could be done far more tidily, but it's not like I look at the bottom of the mouse much and I just cut a strip in two rather than do anything with the width:

Installation is a bit tricky, since the pack doesn't slot in nice and easy like the normal cover and requires a bit of directional force to get it all clicked in place. Once it's there though it just looks like a cover with a different logo. I thought I had it in when I took the pics, but it needed to be slid up a bit so the power button could fully switch on. Removing the pack is even more fiddly, although I can't see why I'd want to take it out unless it needs replacing.

Use is... well, it does what it says on the tin. The mouse feels lighter which may/may not bother you and after charging it's surprisingly warm to the touch for a couple of minutes.

But yeah it's nice overall, no more climbing under the desk to add/remove batteries from the charger in the plug socket and it's obviously invisible.
