visited the purple shirt place tonight,

Last time i was in there, it's like they hover around you like a mosquito, waiting for the right moment to jump in the moment you touch one of the products on display, unleashing a barrage of crap from their mouth.

Because they're paid to do that =/...its no different than being in a phone shop

DVD's are uber cheap when stamped, I bet they do not supply them to make it harder to restore, meaning you are more likley to throw it out and buy another (well non IT people)

As i've said, the average customer has literally no idea what a bootable disc is & most expect it 'to work' regardless & kick off when it doesnt. Having a simple pre-activated image/self extracting installer with all drivers & bundled software setup ready to go works out better for 99% of the customers. Thats why virtually all manufacturers use it & third parties now offer bootable partition back-ups instead of external DVD/HDD.

Having worked for the company since 2004 i can tell you its gone through some very tough times. In the past 4 years the TechGuys has literally lost 95% of its original staff, that remaining 5% work damn hard. You will always fine 'horror' stories in the Daily Fail, online etc but some people get a bargin. Just the other day we had to setup a customers router from scratch, get the wireless printer connected, install AV, setup Outlook, all for £10 a month & even then they can cancel it at anytime. Most dont even want extended warranties but ask for 'remote assist' packages instead. Maximum profit for the company & great experience for the customer.
