Just curious what people do training wise when it comes to these periods? Drop it almost completely? Keep to their plan?

I end up stopping almost completely and frankly its doing my nut in but keep trying to justify it by the 'greater good.' I'd play footy about 2-3times a week and also have 3 full body strength sessions in the gym, however at the moment I do chins and pressups randomly when I feel things arent going in my head or been sitting too long or go outside and do some skipping to wake up.

My justification for all this is that firstly I stay back at my parents house so my friends and stuff aren't around as distractions, would probably end up out on the town. Because im back at my parents im not near my gym and the local crap one is 4quid a pop with no squat rack. I also normally train in the mornings as its when I feel I have most energy, however this also translates to mental energy so I feel its best using it for the books rather than weight room.

So what do you do? And more importantly if you're able to keep the 2 alongside eachother...how do you manage it?

I stayed at uni over easter last year and had about 5 weeks to revise for my exams. I managed to keep up my 3 strength sessions per week. I saw them as a welcome respite from staring at pages of maths and I think it was a pretty healthy way of staying sane during an intense period of study. :)

I fit my training in 99% of the time as it's important to me. If this involves training later than normal, shifting everything back a day, moving meals or adjusting other plans to suit where possible then I will.

If something outside of my control means I'm going to be unable to train that day or few days then so be it. I welcome it as a short break. No harm done.

If my work load gets too much then I know I have to cut down on the gym or rowing but hopefully that will not happen as much this year because I'm not being a plonker when it come to work :)

Plenty of people do well on 2 full body sessions a week and still make good gains.

Try keeping intensity high, volume low and do all 3 compounds. In and out the gym in 30 mins and you've still shifted a good weight. Example;

Squats 3x5
bench 3x5
deadlift 3x5

Its basically stronglifts, but with only 2 days instead of 3.

But also without education, where is the point! Education should come first, so if you can and need to use those times for getting head in the books I would.

But it ain't always that easy.

Still did around 3 quick ~1 hour sessions a week while revising for exams in december, pretty much cut all cardio and was eating a lot (mostly clean) but oh well. Going to the gym was a welcome break from revision.

you can train as much as you want when you've attained your degree

But with the best will in the world you can't revise 24/7. A one hour break three times a week to do something physical is actually beneficial when the only other thing in your life is studying.:)

Always try and make do - I'm out in India at the moment working and the hotel gym is far from equipped; having to dips on the solitary treadmill they have and running out of ways I can maximise the 12.5kg DBs (the biggest set). Deadlifting the bed is quite fun though.
