Need a AMD motherboards expert :D

I have a Gigabyte GA-880GA-UDH3 and the northbridge heatsink is the same. Easily tilts whichever way it is pushed.

I found it rather disconcerting but when released it always reverts to sitting level. I was using the integrated graphics and had no problems playing through half life 2.

You could push the pins down to check they are fully engaged.

Yah i tried that, from reading online i guess it's just the way the board is built eh?

I just never came across something like that before, just got me worried thats all,

Am I safe to just put some AS5 on the corners/wherever I can get into just so it’s sticking to the motherboard? Or should I just leave it in case there’s a problem?

Definitely not.

Have a look at the last image in this article.

The chip is only something like 15mm square. On that sits the much larger heatsink. If you squeeze AS5 around the edge of the heatsink you'll get nowhere near the chip. It won't solidify to provide support. It may actually melt when warmed and run across the motherboard. AS5 also conducts electricity so if comes into contact with any of those little surface mount components you could damage the motherboard.

Haha, thanks for the advice guys, im such an idiot. Well, I ordered a DVD RW now but im just gonna try and install win 7 from USB stick, then I ll check the temperatures and let you guys know, I never had an amd rig before so I didn’t know if this was strange as I have heard lots of bad things from the amd crosshair iv with regards to nb chipset coolers,

I fitted and ran this board for a friend, using the onboard graphics, can't say I noticed a wobble but I was a little out of it with a chest infection at the time. The board checked out running very cool at stock settings and he has reported all is well over the last month.
Replaced an el crappo ASUS M4A78LT-M 760G motherboard which lasted a month.
