So 2 of my cores were showing 55 and the other 2 were showing 70 when I was intel burn testing my Q6600 @ 3.2ghz. I used to hit 3.6ghz no problem. I am guessing my cpu fan has taken a bang and needs resetting?!?! Any ideas

Sounds like it might need it. I can't see why it would do that suddenly, if it was a new build it could have been thermal paste not spread properly or the fan not central and screwed down correctly but since it sounds like this isn't a new build I think you probably will need to check it out.

Use blob in the middle method, spreading thin a thin layer can lead to an uneven contact.

try reseating your heatsink with new paste (artic silver 5)

also what voltages (mainly vcore) are you using for yor overclock? are they the same as before?

I would replace the TIM and re-apply the heatsink.

Did you know that the new top of the range paste is the IC Diamond which is on This Week Only :)

But what tempreature difference does it make? I used to use Artic silver but now I just get mx5 because its cheaper. Whats the difference between mx5 and mx6 btw?

Ok basiacally I had several problems with my computer and found the problem was the psu. When idle the temperatures are all roughly the same. However under intel burn test the range was 50-65 (2 of them having the same). I guess I must have knocked the Air cooler( its a megahahelem) when sorting out all the cables and hardware. What is the best method for removing paste?

I think you meam MX3 and MX4, MX4 spreads a lot easier and gave me better + closer temps across the cores.
