Best over the counter decongestant to clear your throat?

Lovely thread is lovely!!!!!

Anyway, I've had a bunged up throat for weeks now, coughing up a bit too much phlegm for my liking (I told you lovely thread is lovely).

Any recommendations on over the counter products to counteract this?

Seeing as I'm asking for suggestions only with an emphasis on 'over the counter' non- prescribed products I hope this thread is okay!

I've tried taking 1200mg of Guaifenesin daily but that's not helping

Oh, by the way, I don't smoke.

I found nothing works. When I smoked I'd often have a ropey throat and nothing over the counter worked. All I could find that did work was numbing my throat, but those little pastilles numb your mouth more than your throat.

I think you're maybe being a bit too optimistic thinking something over the counter would be sufficient.

I have spoken to my GP about it. He suggested Crystal menthol which I tried and whilst it cleared my nose it didn't do anything for my throat. He also mentioned post nasal drip but that's a medical term and I don't want this thread to go down that route

I would suggest talking to the pharmacist as well, they are more used to dealing with over the counter drugs and would probably have a better day to day understanding of what works and what doesn't.

are you sure he did not say crystal meth? not sure what that would do for you tho

Have done this, they just recommend stuff like this, which isn't helping.
