So im putting together a Sandy bridge build gonna be ordering in a week or so and im still a little stuck on the case.

Both the 800D and FT02 seem amazing.

I was curious as to what the forum thinks about them and which one would be better to buy. Also in the future i will be getting a watercooling setup so take that in mind.

Im kinda leaning towards the 800D because it looks like it would be pretty good on air cooling until i get my watercooling setup. Also the top of the 800D is just tailor made for a 360 rad

Id get the 800d as it has space for a 360mm rad, great cable management, and also I think it looks better.

The 800d will be much easier to install WC in.

I'm going for the FT02 myself. I think with a decent cooler and the new penetrator fans it comes with that it should be cool enough anyway.

Sounds like youve answered your own question really.

And I agree with your answer. ;)

FT02 for air cooling.

800D for water.

You pretty much answered the question with "until i get my watercooling setup"

I have the FT02, Love the case, just I want something a bit smaller, so I'll end up selling it soon and maybe get a lian li case.

Using the 800D at the moment, used to have air cooling which I had no complaints with temps, watercooled the cpu as I had the items spare from a old build.

Well im gonna order the rig here in a week or so and ill be on air until i can afford water cooling which will probably be in the summer.

Is the 800D really bad for air cooling

When I had my TRUE with a Overclocked i7 920 @ 4ghz at full load according to Real Temp, Core Temp & HW Monitor I was getting 65c - 70c on the cores with the cpu fan mid speed.

HD Drives temps were around 32c - 38c, had the 4870x2 and the 480 which never saw temps over 70c with fan on a reasonable speed.

These were with stock case fans and 1 fan pulling cool air from the roof.

Have seen a 800D up close and its a great case, if you are going to be watercooling it will be far easier to use and the cable management is second to none.

RVO2 or FTO2 will both excel at air cooling, far better than the 800D. And if or when you go water cooling just take the three 180mm fans+mounts out and your have enough room for a 360/280 or 480/520 with abit of cutting. Afaik you would have to cut a lot more in the 800d to fit a 480 or 520 rad, and thats if their was enough space, see the build log in my sig for evidence (bought my RVO2 for £100 when the 800d was 200+ so that extra 100 help a lot in getting better wc parts)

Jusy my 2c anyways, hope that helps :)

Had my 800d since wed. Currently running a stock 2600K with the standard heatsink getting about max 60 when playing games. on my 6950 at stock im getting max of about 75 when playing games with fan speed < 40% so i dont think its that bad.
