I received a parking ticket last month, it was my own fault so took it on the chin and sent in a cheque.

As it was Decemeber and the post service was in melt down, I made sure that the post office gave me a (free) proof of posting.

Now I have received a call from the car leasing company saying that I have ignored a parking ticket and will also have to pay an admin fee for them passing on the ticket as well as paying the full amount of the fine (not half)

a) is this usual
b) do i have any come back with my proof of postage?

thanks

As long as you sent it in time, I don't see why you should have to pay the other half plus the admin fee. They should know the postal service was in meltdown and compensate for that.

I'm guessing this was a legit council ticket and not one of the Private Companies scamming tickets?

Yes, a legit ticket and take it on the chin.

It was on a double yellow while I got change from a newsagents (really). The ticket was already on my windscreen when I got out and even though I politely protested and showed the change...the lovely lady said she would call the police if I 'confronted' her!

If this is true why didn't you appeal the ticket? Just askin'.
