Whats the radeon equivellent to a GTX460 1Gb? Im thinking of changing as i have a Crossfire board, and upgrade i may do will still be a crossfire board :)

5850 1GB is probably the nearest ATI card in terms of performance.

Also there is an SLI hack for crossfire boards, I don't know the full details but I'm pretty sure it's something like a special driver. Might be worth reading up on. :)

Ive read about this previously but it only worked with older cards. However i will certainly have another look around :)

Yea...the 6850 is pretty much on par with GTX460 1GB according to benchmarks, and the fact it only require one 6pin PCI-E power instead of two make it easier for some good enough PSU that has only two PCI-E 6pin but not four.

isn't the 6850 basically a refreshed 5830 card which was slightly lower than a 460GTX?

6870 is basically a refreshed 5850?

the card numbering is a bit sneaky by ATI imo....makes you think you get a next gen similar card but it's actually a level down on the previous gen

Nope. 5830 is slower than even the GTX460 768MB, whereas the 6850 is on par with GTX460 1GB; the 6870 on the other hand sits between 5850 and 5870 speed. But one thing to note is that the crossfire scalling is better on the 68xx than the 58xx.
