Hi, I'm looking for a CPU Cooler for a i5 2500k overclocked to 4.5GHz. Which one of these coolers would you choose the corsair H50 or Noctua NH-U12P?

Which one is the quietest?

Matt

Thermalright Archon I'd get, it's new and imo the best cpu cooler out there.
Either that or the silver arrow if you can fit it.

The fans that come with the U12P are very quiet - my case and GPU fans drown them out. Also, if you're not doing a mega overclock you could use the low noise or ultra low noise adapters too if you wanted.

The u12p is old and showing its age compared to other coolers. It only has 4 6mm heatpipes and doesn't perform as well as the other coolers I have suggested above.

Quietness is subjective and dependant on your rig. I find Noctua a really good make and I love my current Noctua NH-D14.

Maybe there's a site for comparative decibel levels and temperature?

Indeed but I believe the NH-D14 comes with the same fans as the U12P, does it not?

The NH-D14 does indeed come with one of the NF-P12s that comes with the U12P but it also comes with a 140mm NF-P14 fan. The NH-U12P isn't a good performer because of the heatsink's performance. Fans are rarely the limiting factor in cooling, it tends to be the heatsinks themselves.
