Hi All.

I've been trying to sell my Mazda 323F Sport now for well over 12 weeks, and unfortunately not having much luck.

I have listed the car on eBay at least four times, used many of the free classifieds such as PistonHeads and my local adtrader.

I just can't seem to sell her, so I have been wondering whether to spend a further £40 on an Autotrader advert.

I'm just concerned it's money down the pan.

Anyone have any other ideas?

The car itself is in great condition and I feel I'm asking a fair price taking into account everything about the car.

I think your problem is that it's not a particularly popular car.

Not necessarily, it's all about a well written and priced advert and a bit of luck.

Question for you. When you are looking for a new car, where is the first place you go? I'm sure 9/10 people will say autotrader. Hope that answers your question :)

Hi,

Thanks for the replies. I don't begrudge paying the £40 to list my car, I just would hate to see it turn to nothing.

Perhaps on payday, I will invest in an advert, and keep my fingers crossed!

What's the price and what's the price of similar cars?

I suspect it's not sold because the price might be too high...?

I've priced it at £2050, which is similar in comparison, if not cheaper than other models, with higher mileage than mine.

What Car value the vehicle at about £2400. The only issue with the car is a few spots of corrosion around the rear arches, which is quite common on this model. I've taken this into account when setting the price.

It also comes with a newly fitted stainless steel exhaust system.

£2k!? Surely even the newest of these is 8 years old.

£1495.

What year is it? It's a not very popular example of a truely ancient hatchback.

Well, a difference of opinion on price. It's a 2002 - 52 registration.

Based on the valuations, and price of other models, I still think a £2050 ONO is a fair price.

There not the most popular or in demand of cars as said, but you should still be able to sell them as they are sought after by those who know these cars, so it's a bit surprising. Maybe it's your ad's? Perhaps post them here?

I'm a fan of the 323, love the BG and BA, looking for a BA myself.

Parkers say:
Private Good £1,470
Private Poor £1,030

On your gumtree advert the "brand new custom stainless steel exhaust system fitted" bit makes you sound a bit boy racer which may put off some?

Regardless - if you've advertised it in that many places, that many times - it's a pretty good indication that you either completely screwed up the advert or the price is too high. The advert isn't too bad - so it's got to be the price?

The parkers prices are based on a mileage of 80K, mine has 65K, although again, just goes to show a different valuation.

I would consider lowering the price to aid in a sale.

The only reason I mention the exhaust is due to the value and benefit of having it fitted over the original, in terms of warranty and so forth.

as per fox said your problem is price.

A guy at work sold a low mileage Y reg one for £400 with 3 months tax and 6 months MOT if I remeber correctly.

You need to remember for that price you could buy an arguably better car (focus) so your going to find it tough to get a buyer.

Not what I want to hear. :)

I will look at reducing the price to see if that helps. If still no joy, I will move on to Autotrader to see if I can drum up some interest.

Stick it in for 1999 if you want to ask 2k so it appears in searches up to 2k.

Sounds 500 quid too dear to me at 2k though.
