Treadmill tripping electricity?

Ok. As the seller said that it could be damp, I tried a hair dryer on it but also noticed that the safety cord was wonky.

Tried again and this seemed to work.

So it was either like the guy said and it was damp (hope not as that would be a pain doing each time) or it was the safety cord tripping it.

Would the safety cord do that? Does it cut the power entirely? Never had to use one before.

Thanks for all your replies. Going to cover it up tonight and try again tomorrow night. The cord is in the right place. Switched on and off a few times and seems to work.

It's a Precor 944. Like this one: http://www.ultimatefit.co.uk/showproduct.asp?product=23&cat=Clearance gym equipment

Covering up something in a damp garage will cause condensation and will only worsen the situation.

The safety cord - do you mean the electrical flex? If so, there could be internal damage caused possibly by crushing, if this is the case it will need to be replaced - a relativley easy thing to fix

I don't think the garage is damp. It is a bit cold though.

No it has a saftey cord. So if you fall over you pull it and it stops.

I have an electricity meter monitoring my electricity so I will switch it on and see how much it uses. I have solar panels on too so it might be a day time running machine if it uses too much.

youd be surprised how quick condensation forms in a cold garage while you are working out. my weights look like they are sweating after a few mins of me being in there

Ok checked the power outage on my meter and it comes up as just over 300 watts when running. Only did it at 5mph though for a few minutes.

Still working ok.

I will leave it for tonight now and check again tomorrow. Lost the motivation to go for a run now. Hope it was just my own fault and may have accidentally moved the safety cord when putting it on the bar.

Still having some issues. Going to try and use a heater to heat up the area of the garage before use. Hope that works as it is really good to run on.

Who would I call should I need it servicing?
