So, for the past few weeks I seem to be getting a lot of these emails from Steam Powered to 'activation my account'. I have had 3 of these since last night.

Here is what it looks like.

Now, although this looks legit, there are a few things that bother me. Firstly they say 'Activation your account', which doesnt really make sense, and secondly, when I log into Steam it already says my email is verified.

Is this some kind of scam, or is it for real? My instincts say scam, but is good to check. Thanks.

Same with all verifications after your initial sign-up. If it asks, go directly to the website yourself and log into your account. Don't click on the link.

Yeah I thought as much. I've sent all further emails from them to my Spam box, so hopefully I shouldnt get them anymore. Cheers.

Hehe, a nice touch also linking you with a written URL to the actual steam site. Certainly though the renamed URL isn't real.

Though the blatant give away to me is the 'Steam Powered' name at the top.

Contact valve.

Its a given whoever sent it knew you had a steam account and so must have acquired your email address from some sort of valve leak (heh see what i did there?)

Its scam the poor english should have warned you., and people wonder why they send out these emails to many mugs willing to believe em

Considering i was getting emails not long ago telling me my World of Warcraft account needed to be verified and failure to heed this message would result in it being permanently closed... despite having never played WoW and as such never having an account... why would they need to target them? Not as if an email costs money.

Well I didnt actually reply to it, the bad English did warn me, I just thought I would bring this up to check for definite, and perhaps as a warning to others. I find your comment rather offensive, and pointless.

I never understand where people get these emails from, I've played many online games with accounts for a long time and post on forums and never received any scam emails.. General rule of thumb is never use your account email as a forum email.
