Looks like I'm going to have to rma my Asus P8P67 PRO.
Wondering if anyone else has done this and got a different board instead?
Really lost confidence with Asus, any sugestions for a different board?
Was thinking of the MSI P67A-GD65, but never had their products before.

Take a look at the Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD3/4. Some people will hate the all black look, but I quite like it.

Possible I guess. Heard MSI's fancy BIOS isn't the best though and regarding the old style BIOS, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

I have a p67a-gd65 and its fantastic. had no problems overclocking after flashing the bios to 1.6.

I haven't had any problems in the bios.

Have sent my asus back and am enjoying my new asrock extreme 6. I needed at least 8 sata ports which put the cheaper gigabytes out of the question. So far the board seems great, nice and stable but havent tried overclocking yet. BIOS is nice too. Would recommend on my <12 hours experience so far.

isnt this new fancy gui bios also cutting down the boot time?

If it aint then id go gigabyte, although another dark horse is that Asrock board... I dunno why but for the specs/features and price it looks pretty good lol

Do you mind me asking what the turnaround was for rma'ing your asus?
I'm guessing you had a fault with it, did you send your cpu back as well?
Bit nervous about the rma procedure, I could be charged loads!

May look at the Asrock, never heard of them before though.

i had asrock boards years on amd , they where solid but cant speak for the new ones

they used to be quite cheap but basic bois

use asus atm

its strange cos the Asrock p67 extreme board while its still 150 quid, has more Sata ports (10) and more usbs... then even the higher end £200-300 boards.... obviously doesnt have like 3-4 pci express lanes but still looking a top choice.

p8p67 pro complete junk

I finally gave up trying to get mine to work and in the same boat as which board to try now. I was also looking at the msi P67A-GD65 or the GIGABYTE GA-P67A-UD4. The only problems i've seen in other msi forums is the updated bios not saving properly. Does any one have a suggestion which board will be the most stable with the least problems and which memory would you suggest (certainly not corsair)?

All the asus boards have bios, memory, and booting issues.

I wouldn't say all of them have issues, we are just mainly hearing about the ones that have which I'm sure is a small %.

Edit: If you look at this thread out of the 25 people with the Asus board only 3 say they would change it. It actually works out to be a lower % of people who would have gone for something different than the other brands as it stands now.

its always hard to tell with the stats cos Asus is gonna be the top 1 choice and the one everyone runs out and buys 1st...

But yeah it doesnt help when u hear about all the issues... almost sounds like they need to release a 1.1 P8P67 pro already....

Was hoping to check my p8p67 pro today but I was sent the standard board by mistake instead. Been told I gotta return board b4 mine is dispatched, guess I got another week till I have my PC :(

I agree that probably the majority of people bought the asus boards, and you are hearing more issues because of this but without a doubt this was the worst experience I have ever had with a build. I tried everything under the sun to get it to work to no avail. I would say it just a fluke a I was one of the small few with problems like this, but this being only the first week of release and I have seen numerous post of people having similar problems. Even the one's who were able to get a stable running system out of the board still have booting issues and problems overclocking properly. I know it's new technology but I would have expected more out of asus. It not like I was putting anything out of the ordinary on it.
