Engine management light on, please help.

Evening all, this afternoon i redlined 2nd gear and i got a slight judder and the engine management light came on and now stays on. The car starts fine and runs fine, the only thing i notice is when i put the clutch down when stopping, instead of the revs going to around 600rmp it goes down to 400rmp and jumps up to 600rmp straight away.

Any advice on whats wrong here is much appreciated. :)

The car in question is a 53plate Vx corsa sxi 1.2
 
Well i would have thought it would go into limp home mode with the light on, so will be drinking juice.

Its possible when you redlined it a sensor panicked and has triggered it. Take it a local garage and get it looked at mate.
 
Sounds like the crankshaft sensor, exactly the same thing happened to me, google error codes for corsa theres a tutorial on how to do it on corsa UK forums. If it is btw you're driving a timebomb, it'll eventually give up totally.

Yup, got one ordered from the auction site, new vx one for £31 delivered.
Onced it has been fitted, is it just a case of resetting the ecu by leaving the battery disconnected to get rid of the light on the dash?

Tried the corsa pedal test and that gave me the code (0100), and i googled it, then i made sure it was that by hooking up my mates wee chip into the slot under the glove box and it came up with the same thing. Not sure what the wee machine thing is called. :p

Castrol gtx magnatec always. Every 6 months, done by myself so i know its good oil being used. I cant stand corsa's that drive passed with there chain rattling like hell lol ;)

Removing the battery does not clear all the fault codes. You really need to use a code reader that can re-set the codes and then re-test. I would offer you my Tech 2 but your a little bit far away for me too sort it out...:D
Best thing to do is remove the battery for at least 20 mins and then re-test and see what codes come up. It could be the Air mass meter may have just miss red or it was an old stored code.

Hopefully i,m making sense had quite a bit of wine.....

Ma mate connected up some wee device to the car today, turnes out i need a new air flow meter

Depends if the device could re-set and clear the fault codes as well. ? Some of the code readers will show old codes as false positives..

Unless I have misread what you meant or I have no idea whats going on which is highly likely.. I,m a qualified Vauxhall mechanic but when drunk i,m next to useless...:D:D
 
If your mates code reader can, delete the code. Iirc on my omega codes will disappear after 20-25 successful problem free starts, could be similar for your corsa.
