Just wondered if many people on here made the change (I'm sure there's a few lurking about now) and were happy with the decision.

I can't see it being much of an upgrade myself, but if anyone can beg to differ having done it themselves, speak now :)

My friend upgraded to Sandy Bridge 2600K from an i7 @ 3.8 and regretted it. BUT... he decided to use the new kit to put into a smaller case for a HTPC and it runs loads quieter and cooler.

Not an upgrade for us, but great for new buyers i'd say.

Can I ask what it was he regretted about it? Just interested out of curiousity

I upgraded from a i7 930 to sandy bridge 2600k because i wanted the old i7 for another build.

The 2600k is faster and quieter clock for clock and over clocks higher whats not to like all my benchmarks are higher and games have higher frame rates.
