Dell rip off.............

I don't blame them for it, if people buy it more fool them. I feel slightly sorry for those who buy it but not much because it isn't difficult to quickly google a product to see how much it costs on it's own.

Didn't someone on here do a comparison of self build vs alienware and found that something like 1/3 or 1/2 the price.

lol anyone can see alienware sucks 100%. I can get a rig for £500 or even £250. Dont bother buying from alienware. Its really for people who know nothing about computers.

12GB DDR3 1333MHz (3x 4GB) Tri Channel Memory [Add $250.00 or $8.00/month1]

12GB Triple Channel 1600MHz DDR3 [Add $1,200.00 or $36.00/month1]

How much more does 1600Mhz memory cost?

hehe there are a lot of idiots about and it serves them right they should stick to consoles for there gaming needs...the xbox!! at least they can play red dead redemption unlike all us PC gaming idiots (no im not bitter at all honest ;p)

When i built pcs on a serious level i had people refusing my business and going with Dell/Alienware etc.. and paying about 40-50% more for a lesser spec machine. Apart from that they sometimes financed it, which worked out more plus had a lot of issues with the Dell finance company. I also provided better turnaround time for replacement/repairs, support etc.. as there was 4 of us in the business.. Decided a 9-5 was a better and less stress option due to pc prices falling drastically and the niche markets getting less and less.

I must thank Dell for their GX270 line though, made much much money recapping their boards as they refused to admit the caps were substandard and kept replacing the boards with the same doomed caps, people eventually turned to people like us to repair them :D

Anyone with half a brain has known this for years. I don't know who's worse at charging stupid amounts, Dell/Alienware or wait for it... Apple :P

Bring on the flaming haha :D

The only good thing about apples rip offs are that you get to walk inti any of their stores and have 99% of your problems solved. Alienwares are targeted at idiots with too much money ( bankers) cough cough

Feel slightly sorry for people who do buy their products. Same feeling when I see buying pcs from those tech guys in the purple shirts. Just a massive con.

I cringe when my mum buys anything because 'she liked the look of it'. Like her 50" "HD Ready" TV. It's only 720p and looks like crap in my opinion. She seems to like it though.

Apple's instore support is terrible compared to Dell's premium support (which is roughly the same cost) - i.e. £300 over the cost of the base unit for 3 years. Having looked after a lot of Dell/HP/Apple laptops in my time I wouldn't skimp on it tho :)

Booking an appointment a few days in advance so that you can queue to meet a "Genius" who will then take your hardware off for a repair that takes a week, and then trekking all the way to the store again does not compare to having an Engineer showing up wherever you are worldwide the next working day with the bits needed to fix whatver is wrong. (On a laptop 9 times out of 10 this is a motherboard or screen, Apple don't even keep these parts in stock in their stores - they need to be ordered in)

The upgrades cost a fortune because the machines all come out of the factory with the same baseline spec. If you go custom then someone on UK wages needs to unbox it, install the extra crap, reinstall the OS, run all the sanity tests to make sure it still works and do a bunch of paperwork before shipping it to you. The high prices are their to dissuade you from customising and they make user upgrades like RAM or SSD's as easy as possible.

Never heard of a banker buying an Alienware either. Not sure who buys them. Idiots I suppose.

Depends on what her eyesight is like and how far she sits from it. My Panasonic 37" 720p showed a vastly superior picture to the 1080p screens I trialled at the distance i'd be using to view.

Dell come out to you or send the parts next day, I'd be pretty annoyed if I had to go to them.

Really can't fault Dells support. Their products are OK as well, not great but OK. Apple's products are better, almost HP / Lenovo level but their support absolutely sucks.

I think Dell are very expensive now , i dont think they are very competitive anymore , its cheaper these days to build a p.c then a ready made machine , i maybe wrong , ive been looking to buy a desktop from dell but just cannot get a good deal from them :D:D
