Dell's gaming rig makers Alienware might have started thinking that its users are willing to part with a lot of cash for not much.

The outfit has started flogging the Intel Core i7-2600K 'Sandy Bridge' processor and is offering to overclock it from 3.9GHz to a blistering 4.1GHz. The only downside is that this upgrade will cost you $250.

for upgrading ram from 4gb to 8gb they'll take £560 off you! :eek:

i am actually horrified! and a gtx 580 upgrade from a 6870 is £540! £1.1k for those two upgrades! How can people fall for this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :eek:

Combined with the fact that Alienware cases are ****ing minging and they slap their brand all over the OS 'default' theme - it's ridiculous!!

I'd never EVER buy a shop-built system from anywhere like them... ever - I'd either do it myself or get a package from somewhere like OcUK that (hopefully) know what they're selling and (more importantly) actually appreciate the fact that their customers know what they're buying!!

they have back when alienware first started they were actually very competitive but they got cocky fast and started charging stupid prices because people will pay

Tbf, not that I condone businesses ripping people off, but as a business you usually charge as much as you can get away with. If you can sell it for £100 why charge £20?

Most of us on the OcUK forum know how much things should cost in regards to computers. We're a minority really.
