Keanu Reeves Badly Interviewed?

I saw this interview on the news this morning and thought it was pretty poor at the time. Susana kept trying to flirt and speaking over the other news guy. BBC news in the morning has gone downhill over the years, with poor interviewing, some seriously shoddy camera/directing work and poor setup of the program.

Sky News is even worse for the most part? I feel like the BBC 'News' is in comptetition with Sky News, but both of them fail badly at times when trying to do 'serious' interviews. You only need to watch Kay Burley  Twice I'd been enraged at her completely trouncing the interviewee's.

BBC's News website is good though, SN's website is full of BREAKING NEWS banners are other 'alarming' text/font.

The seemingly only news item I watch at the moment is FIVE NEWS, at 5. Even though produced by Sky News they seem to do a pretty good job.

The bbc news has sucked so much balls for so long.

Government should force the BBC to stop producing a 24hour news channel, morning, night, thats it, focus the talent, stop trying to be a talk show, make the news better and start firing the incompetant people. The BBC news/sport website is shockingly poorly done and frequently inaccurate.

here is the full interview.

I think that they try to ask him questions so that they end up with a talking point. But keanu is a deep thinker and could probably come back with a whole discussion on the subject of movies and gun violence. That female bbc presenter is realy annoying though.

I thought he came across awfully, he seemed almost aloof and just didn't seem to be interested in the topic at hand. It's not really that hard of a topic to discuss and there have been plenty of studies done into it. I think it was poor prep work by him. I wouldn't want to invite him back to a on-air interview after that performance.

BBC News is going slightly down hill, minus the flagship broadcasts. It's enjoyable to watch when there is no news and you can see them just trying to buff out the programme. The outrageous flirting is quite humorous also.
As for the website, utter tosh nowadays.

I think the contrary. It's very very difficult to discuss it without generating headlines. "Reeves apologises for Matrix gun culture" "Reeves denies Matrix shootings link" etc.

Either they didn't tell him in advance they were going to ask that, or he didn't prepare an answer to the question. I think it's far more likely the former, and I think he made every effort he could to give a clear and thoughtful answer.

He gave far from a clear answer, he mumbled, oohed and ahhed and just gave up in the middle of the sentences. It would be foolish for an action film actor not to prepare to give answers on the relationship between films and gun crime. He almost comes across as a 'pseudo deep thinker' with his exaggerated pauses and tone.

Well what would you say if asked that question on live tv, when you are trying to promote a movie and you have a few mins?

Exactly. Most of these stars end up in interviews because they're on the promo circuit for their latest flick. Thus, they don't expect to be taken down routes of questioning such as this. The dude is human, and therefore gets tongue-tied when harsher questions unrelated to the film and his actual job are put forth.

Nothing wrong with that in my book.

Keanu appears to have his small eccentricities in his gestures, but seems like a really nice bloke.

You should see Keanu on 'The Graham Norton Show', ive never seen someone talk to graham norton AND the other guests, he really engaged with everyone, really polite really friendly.
im not a Keanu Reeves fan at all, but that interview made me think he was a nice chap.

BBC News have their target audience and agenda wrong, and always have. Interviews conducted poorly, turn out to be dull, have no conclusion.

They're there to promote a movie, an album, a performance.

And they get awkward small talk worthy of a school prom.

Bad interview makes keanu sad.

I always like Keanu, never got the hate. He's done some great films, Bill and Ted, stupid but fun, especially for movies you watched as a kid. Point Break is fantastic, The matrix is great, the other two are rubbish.

He's a good actor but has done some dodgey movies, Chain Reaction, most actors do.

As someone said, you really don't want to be on EITHER side of the gun argument, get the headline and fly back to the states, every film you do will be picketed by pro or anti gun nuts, and studio's don't want the focus of a new film to be a actors political views so he could screw himself out of a movie role.

Though end of the day, the interviewers are morons, its ALMOST an appropriate question for the WRITER of a film. Not an actor, sure an actor can turn down a role if there is an issue but come on, Keanu makes an effort to be in a film without guns, really?

Anyway, Keanu was in the first film that Katie Holmes got her boobs out, before she was whackadoo.

hes an actor not a politician and its not a political film they should have been asking about his film/career not about his political views. why does he have to have views and why does he have to share them with BBC ? he probably has more political grasp than the average bbc news presenter anyway... but theres a time and a place for that and its not when your contractually promoting a film for someone whos paid you millions

ive always thought hes very down to earth for one of hollywoods biggest actors. i dont think anyone has a bad thing to say about him tbh. that guardian interview was good.

Good lord that was painful to watch. When Keanu first put his hand to his chin I was reading into it that he was confused by the question and, quite frankly, so was I. The interviewer seemingly couldn't construct his question coherently but after a second run through I assume what he was trying to ask was whether the movie was making a political statement by having a bank robber who doesn't use a gun.

If this isn't the case then I'll just shy away from the thread again in my originally confused state :)
