Off to Milan on Monday for three nights.

Suggestions and recommendations please on places to visit, things to see and restaurants to eat at.

The Duomo and maybe the San Siro if you're interested in stadiums. To be honest the city doesn't have much going for it.

Edit: Bar Magenta, thats our regular haunt pre and post match for a drink.

Duomo i'll be doing, I've been to the San Siro for a match as an away fan before but not doing the stadium tour - not sure the OH will appreciate it for her 21st trip away though.

I love the city (spent a portion of my childhood) there but it really is a fashionistas paradise. Shoe shops and handbag shops everywhere you look. The local markets offer some very good replicas though.

Got any locations for these markets? I didn't see any on my 2 day trip there last year but I had no clue where I was looking?

If you are there on a sat or Tuesday you got Mercato di Viale Papiniano which iirc was mostly fashion stuff. To be honest we chanced across most whils't just travelling around.

Sorry I can't be more help but it's not really an area of interest to me ;)

It's a dump, decent shops but even Middlesbrough puts it to shame.

You're not far from the truth to be honest. The centre is nice in general, i.e. in the immediate vicinity of the duomo. The rest of the city is pretty poor in general.

I know, I've been there and Boro is my home town. At least in Cleveland your only a few miles from somewhere nice.

Bumpy - going tomorrow and looking for any last minute tips :)

Eat lots of food. I go to Milan with work every now and then and the best thing is definitely going out to eat for lunch and dinner. It's a lot cheaper if you stay away from the duomo, maybe 15 mins walk away and just pick somewhere.

It's a bit of a dump, apart from the nice shops, the staggering Duomo Cathedral. The San Siro is worth a visit, but the away supporters area is a mess.

The Cathedral is worth the trip to Milan all by itself, go all the way to the top.

We got the train from Rome to Milan, stayed 2 nights and got the train back. The train trip itself was pretty pleasant, and I'm glad we didn't stay longer. When you arrive by train you see the state of the suburbs.

Milan :(

Definately not a city to go with GF, as said, it really is a dump.

But if you do need ideas, tripadvisor.com is always a good first port of call :)
