Howdy all, this is the system I'm considering to upgrade to. If you guys could give your opinions on it that will be great.

there isn't a power supply because I'll be taking it from my old pc (1000w)

Cheers

What power supply have you got that you are going to be using?

Other than that, good spec :)

[EDIT]:

How about changing that drive to a Samsung F3 1TB and then getting a WD green 2tb for storage?

the power supply is NZXT Precise PRC-1000W. i have considered getting a SSD. So you would reckon it would be better to lets say get SSD and then a green HDD? whats the down side of going for green HDD than a performance HDD?

unsure if to change the cooler? any recommendations?
I be reading up on coolers myself today and the one you have in your spec is not really recommended..as it only meant to work well went the fans are set to high speed...

But i can't help you on which cooler to go for as am struck on which one to choose myself..

If you want SSD performance , have a look at the Momentus XTs ...2 of these will give you SSD performance in raid0 and the added advantage of adaptive learning capability's, by your third boot your boot time will be reduced by a factor of 3 and yes they are SataIII, 250,320 and 500GB are the flavours in 2.5", have seen the 320s now down to £62...Bargain!

Hi mate, good choice to scrap the h70. The graphics card is correct and you can flash it to become a 6970 very easy to do. TBH i would get a small drive like a samsung F3 for your data and a small SSD check out the OCZ vertex 2 it comes as 50-60gb option and then install OS on this. The system will fly!

A 6950 is cheaper, not that much slower and can be flashed with the 6970 bios, creating a 6970.

The ram may not fit with the cooler due to the heatsink fins.

the SATA 6Gb/s on a mechanical harddrive is a unnecessary feature, replace with a SamsungF3 drive and save £20.

A bigger 60+ GB SSD

updated again :P

Changed HDDs and SSD

im still going to stick with the 6970 because a lot of people at my work rave about it.

Unsure what cooler to go with then since it might not fit over the ram.
