Ive been reading a lot around this forum searching through all the information but i can't really find any information on the cooler master V8 and people experiences of them.

I have a Q6600 at normal clock at the moment and its currently running at 60C idle with a CM hyper tx3 fan (which is horrible).
If i even try to play a game (something simple like C&C) it shoots up to 80C.

So what do you guys think about the cooler master V8? it should be arriving any day now.

oh yeh and im also looking to upgrade my case to a HAF 922.

Thanks in advance

Met

Are you sure hsf is seated properly? Tx3 is a ok hsf from what i read. Little bit better than freezer 7 pro. I had the latter with 36C idle 65-70C load.

ive had a couple of looks and all the pins seem to be in right and the fan isnt really tipping or anything off of the mobo. i have a hunch its going to be the thermal compound but seeing as ive ordered the V8 ill just wait to fit that and re-apply thermal compound.
i hope to clock my CPU to 3.0 comfortably with the V8.

all the reviews from the V8 are really good which is why i got it.

Oh, a mate just bought one of those coolers... will be interested to see how you get on with this. Once he fits his I'll badger him for how he got on and I'll let you know.

No way it should be that hot, my old Q6600 when run at 3ghz on STOCK cooling with the voltage turned up a bit ran to about 79C under load.

Your Q6600 might well do 3ghz at stock volts which would mean the temps even less... it was possible to run some Q6600 at 3ghz on stock cooling at about 70 - 75C max load temps.

Thanks for that it would be a great help!

Im hoping possibly to get 3.2 stable if i can get my new case etc. robs a HAF 932 or HAF X

but i deffinately know something is wrong. if the new cooler and case dont sort it then the cpu must be FU***D

jeez thats good! i only hope to get between 3.0 and 3.2 so thats great that you can get 3.6 stable at 75C

It's not to bad. I don't see a lot of people recommending the cooler on the forums, they all tend to favour the fenrir evo etc.

What won me over was the look and the brand, I love coolermaster products. I'm brand loyal that way.

You will Easily reach 3.0ghz

Let us know how you get on :)

Ran a V8 on my i7 920 @3.6Ghz for ages and it coped no problem. I've now jumped ship and gone for a monster Silver Arrow... lol :)

3 - 3.2Ghz on the Q6600 will be a breeze. I run a V6GT on my Q6700 in sig and it's not trying at 3.2, although I did change the fans out because they were a tad loud at full pelt. Coolermaster produce some nice coolers :)
