North Face Mountain guide mitt

The cheapest I can find them is £78.95 delivered from here
http://www.theoutdoorshop.com/showPart.asp?part=PN80209

However they only have medium and I think they will be a bit too big.

I have tried searching for voucher/promo codes but none work. One would be great for outdoorkit.co.uk or a site that stocks them in small

Ta and feel free to recommend me some othre gloves/mitts. I tried North Face patrol gloves and my finger turned into ice sticks a few weeks back! Think i'm going to see how I get on with mitts as I get freezing cold hands, especially when sitting on ski lifts

Best not to buy gloves you haven't tried on, mitts especially, as the sizing/fit does matter if want good dexterity. But anyway, I'm about to recommend some other mitts that you won't have tried on either. As with the TNF ones you could always return them if they don't fit.

BD Mercury mitts are very good, pity theoutdoorshop don't have your size either cause that's a great deal, ditto for the Montane Resolute mitts. Climbers-shop have both in stock at a still reasonable price.

Been using some mitts when skiing the last couple weeks in Scotland, aye, much happier when my hands are nicely warm.

I cant find a seller for powgloves

I tried on some Black diamond mercury mitts in small and they were warm. The only problem is that the outer shell is not waterproof. Not good for if it rains! (£90 retail)

A shop in town is getting some Black diamond absolute mitts in stock in the next few days so I will try some of those on (I have found these for £113 online shipped from US)

I think it will be between some North Face mountain guide mitts bought online or Black diamond absolute mitts

If it's raining then it's >0°C and you probably don't need to be wearing insulated mitts :)

You'd have to heading somewhere pretty arctic or have particularly sensitive fingers to necessitate something like the BD Absolute mitts. Anyway, go for whichever fits best and isn't too expensive.

Why do people buy mitts? What benefit do they have over fingered gloves with equal quality/padding? - as they have the obvious con of limited finger movment. Genuine question.

Less surface area to lose heat from, plus all your fingers are together and keeping each other warm.

I went for neither of the above choices in the end.

Hestra Army Leather GTX XCR Mitten & Hestra Polartec Glove Liner

Expensive but I have learnt my lesson - having fingers you cant feel is not the way forward when skiing! These should last many years to come
