I've been looking on an auction site for Xbox 360 Slim HDD's and I've noticed that there is quite a few sellers selling 250GB Slim HDD's for around £40. Sounds like a bargain to me, and some of them have sold like 50.

Has anyone else got one of these?

Copies are $48.68 direct from HK, one user video shows the drive inside is Magnetic Data Technology which possibly is a Western Digital refurb.

They are more than likely just normal WD hard drives flashed with the 360 hard drive firmware. They will work fine in the Slim.

Most of them seem to come with a 12 month warranty aswell. Yeah I know they are cheaper direct from HK but they take a couple of weeks to come. I'd rather pay the extra and get one from a UK seller.

Cheers

What I'm trying to say is it seems a case of you get what you pay for. There are lots of comments about the old style 360 HK drives not able to play xbox originals which requires a HD because something isn't quite right about them.

But that's only for games that actually NEED an install to the HDD? Like Forza?

Hasn't anyone here got one of these unofficial slim HDD's then? Would like confirmation that they're decent until I actually buy one.

Cheers

Lots of people use unofficial drives with no issues so far. The only problem I see is that they all use the same ID code so there are potentially thousands of drives with the same ID logged on to Xbox live. I doubt they would but MS could ban the console as it is in violation of the terms of agreement.

You can install 360 games on the HK variety it's Xbox Originals that don't work aka emulation of Xbox One games.

Well mine arrived today and it's perfect. Total of 228GB (Guess some must be reserved for system files). A bargain for the money considering I was going to spend £70 on an official one!

Cheers
