Excuse my ignorance, but what do: Bloom, HSAO, Aniso and Fov do?
I have Bloom=True, HSAO=false, Aniso=2, Fov=55.
I sometimes get slugging performance in smoke, but generally it's ok. Plus, should I have my DXVersion set to a specific one? Currently it's auto. If I can boost the framerate, without reducing quality, then I'm happy to have a fiddle.
I'm using a Phenom x4 925 @ 2.8, 1gb 5770.

Try bloom on false (its responsible for some of bfbc2s glare) FOV is field of vision. Which is calculated horizontaly, there was a calculator for that somewhere) and try setting DX to 10. On auto it will will be on DX11 with a 5770 so see if DX10 gives you a performance boost.

Cheers min. I googled a calculator and for 1680x1050 with a 90 degree horizontal FOV (whatever that means), I got 65 so I'll change that also. It was at 55.
What is RenderAheadLimit? Mine is at 2.

I was playing with 65 FoV while i was on a max settings pc and dropped back to mine with low settings and 80 FoV. At this stage though its difficult to say whether i did better because the FoV was 65 or because the game actually ran smoothly and didn't look ****...

Weird as hell every time i sniped someone i would also fall over dead... no it wasnt FF lol

but if i pistolled someone i wouldn't... very very very odd, th guy i was playing with said it happens its a common bug... ?!
 
Nah more likely a new mod that instantly slays snipers when they fire without bothering to tell them its restricted. Was a server a few days ago that appeared to be autoslaying people who killed infantry with a rocket launcher, no idea if that was the case as i never tried but a big server message would pop up on screen saying player x had been slayed for abusing the RPG. Mods that restrict them just kill you instantly if you've gone over the limit.

What I really hate is that the mods can't tell if you've killed someone with an RPG/CG/AT4 because they were in a tank or building etc and still get slayed/kicked for "RPG against infantry", they just assume you're walking around with it on your shoulder ready to fire it at your feet as soon as you come nose to nose with someone else. :(

Normally when I find out these mods are there I leave.
 
I definitely think those kind of mods should mean your server gets downgraded to unranked.

With nearly 7k m24 kills I can assure you it's not a bug it's a retarded admin's mod.
 
Given that they've nerfed the CG/etc massively I don't really see the issue any more. People using them will get a few cheap kills but in the meantime the assault rifles and engineer weapons are out-killing them at a massive pace.
 
I've seen a server that locked Recons completely, wouldn't let them spawn full stop, which should definitely be changed to unranked. But then this was clearly a **** server given that it had 10000 tickets... Servers that play 16v16 but lock Recons to 2 or 3. Servers that restrict Gustavs to 2 or 3 people on maps with Helicopters meaning you can't use it to take down a chopper because some retards are taking it for infantry.

And yeah blanket slays for killing infantry is dumb. Would basically mean if you RPGd a tank and the guy bailed as it hit and killed him you'd be autoslayed.

Well they nerfed Gustavs but the idiots running round with double ammo and MK2 still get easy kills. I switched to that on 1 Cold War level and it was pitiful how easy it was to get kills/double/multi.

Now to search back through the thread and try and find the advanced bc2 config thing :p
 
I agree, locking classes and autoslaying is retarded. I got slayed for "base raping" when I shot a guy who was at A on Arica Harbour, on those stairs behind the building. Let the game play, and the smart guys will pwn the noobs and cheaters anyway. I make a point of cleaning out campers and gustavers with my shotguns of righteousness anyway.

It's still the best imo, the reload rate and the speed of it in general get's my vote over the RPG and the Heatseeker.

Ah right. I guess I've not noticed it much on SQDM but perhaps I've been lucky or it's more pronounced on Rush/etc.

/re your config - just check out the config files in docs/bfbc2. No need to use a config program :)
 
Always go with the RPG as I fire it at vehicles....;)

Same, or people camping in buildings or behind walls, after which you get the ineviitable "RPG Noob" comments. I say they are fair game if they are in buildings or camping behind walls - a bullet isn't going to go through the walls now is it? :)
