The Alfa Mito; I guess it's a bit of a Marmite car but I like it, and its bigger sister Giulietta. I've been picking through Autotrader and it looks like you can get a sub 1-year old 1.4 16V with near zero miles on the clock for less than £10K.

What gives? I thought these were quite expensive when they were new?

This one is £11K at a dealer but even so looks like a lot of car for that money...

I had a look on Auto Trader at these last night and noticed the same thing. I quite like them; very distinctive, particularly in the flesh. The Giuletta looks a cracker too, much more expensive though.

Arent these only around 12k new list price anyway?

Edit: Just looked, they are...

Depends on the spec; the basic, lower powered 1.4 Junior is about 12k, the Veloce is over £14.5k

The new 1.4 MultiAir Cloverleaf list price is £18365 :o

I very much doubt that the one's that the OP is looking at are the 170BHP versions.

Although from looking at the car configurator it looks like that might be a Veloce.

its an alfa thing - the prices drop faster than a whore's draws when you drive them out the dealership. Bererera or Spyder new is ~ £25k+, after a year you can pick them up (from the dealerships even) for 10k less!!

My dad has one, bought it September 2009, it's the 1.4 16V (Non-Turbo) Lusso but also has a few options off the Veloce and it cost between 11-12K back then before they increased the prices for the Multi-Air engine. It's not the quickest thing in the world that's for sure although it's been reliable for him, it hasn't been back to the garage once. It shouldn't need to have done because he's only done 2,500 miles in it because he uses his other car for most of his trips :p

It turns heads, whether people are turning their heads in disgust or interest is another thing! It came with a lot more equipement than it's rivals at the time, you hardly had to specify anything at the time of my dad purchasing his to get a lot of equipement which you wouldn't normally find on a car of it's class/price.

I'm not overly keen on the way it looks but it's bold and different so it gets a thumbs up from me.
