Just looking at getting some new kit and am wondering what the best chipset for clocking the 1055t is... any good board recommendations?

I have just been given a budget from work to upgrade my home rig, moving from a q6600 to either sandy bridge or 1055t and am struggling.Order needs to go today :S

The Crosshair IV Extreme would be the best for a 1055t, as AFAIK it's the only AM3 board capable of providing a stable 300+fsb.

Personally I'd go with a Gigabyte 890GPA-UD3H, because I already have one and it's the best board I've ever owned. :p Should be good for 4.0ghz with a 1055t.

Ok think im settled on the following:

Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H 890GX Socket AM3 HDMI DVI VGA Out 8 Channel Audio ATX Motherboard

AMD Phenom II X6 1055T 2.8GHz 9MB Cache Socket AM3 Retail Box Processor

2X Corsair 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600MHz/PC3-12800 XMS3 i5 Memory Kit CL9(9-9-9-24) 1.65V

As a side, I could add a bit extra and go 1090t is it worth it?

Its got an unlocked multi so should be easier to overclock

Personally I'd go for a 1090t if I were you. It's £45 more but is much easier to overclock and would probably go further on that board because you'll be able to leave the FSB at 200mhz.

Ok went with this:

Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H 890GX Socket AM3 HDMI DVI VGA Out 8 Channel Audio ATX Motherboard

AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition

2X Corsair 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600MHz/PC3-12800 XMS3 i5 Memory Kit CL9(9-9-9-24) 1.65V

Good motherboard :)

Is there a difference of anything other than clock speed between all four hex-core chips? I'm looking to upgrade to one of these soon, and plan to overclock, but I'm on a budget, so will the 1055t be much worse?

As far as i can tell the 1090 and 1100 are black edition chips and are multi unlocked so can be pushed harder. The 1055 and 1075 are not black editions and need to be clocked using the fsb.

I would recomend the Asus M4A89GTD PRO/USB3, why, I run it, I have the ga 870 and have ran the asrock 890gxe, my asus runs 1055t 14x289/ht 2892/nb 2892/ 4x2gb corsair@771 8-8-8-24-33-1t 24/7

Unfortunatly the asus got no love early on so was quickly cast aside... We are all ordered now so should be cooking before we know it :)
